I join the Canadian armed force’s the 15th July  2000, As a 041 Combat engineer was then send to CFB Gagetown to receive my basic engineer training.  On a basic 7km run I was injured resulting in a badly sprained ankle. Up on medical assessment while taking my vital sings, it was discovered that I had an abnormal heart beat.  Up on farther assessment by a specialist I was diagnosed with insufficiency aortic valve.  I was then posted to CFB Petawawa to join the 2 Combat Engineer Family.  I was removed from my peers and placed in an office position, as a unit clerk.  I was later placed in the Library, maintaining resources, maps, and intelligence equipment.  I maintained my physical fitness, and was regularly active in sports and other activities on my own time. I was extremely unhappy, and felt isolated from my fellow engineers. It became too difficult for me to want to continue in my current working environment, not doing the job I had originally joined the military to do.  I spoke with the medical officer at the unit, and we agreed the next course of action was a COT (compulsive occupational transfer).  I was then told that it would take more than 24 months to relieve this COT in refrigeration and heating.  I spoke to the unit clerk, who assured that not only could I get back in, but that it would be faster to do so. That is the course of action I choose. I waited the six months required, and reapplied. I was then told from the recruiting department in Ottawa, I did not meet the basic recruit status due to my medical condition, even though I saw several specialists who stated that my condition was not progressive and that there was little to worry about. I was an extremely fit and healthy individual.  Now I want to join as AVN Tech which the medical standers is a G3 03 in which I am.. So if any one can help me on what to do it would be great.. I was also told go see my member of parlament but i'm not sure now i'm in the process of writing a letter to the federal misister of natural defence...any way thats my store any help would be great...

From another thread on not meeting the standards. Sounds like the same sort of problem, just different body part. Now this from an ex Recruiter:

Common enrolment medical standards (CEMS) must be met in order to be enrolled in the CF.  It is does not matter if you meet the occupation medical standards. You clearly do not meet the CEMS and therefore are not employable by the CF.  Unless your hearing improves you are SOL and should seek employment elsewhere.

Substitute heart for hearing problem. Same same. Sorry

CEMS is O2 G2 and you are SOL.

I spoke to the unit clerk, who assured that not only could I get back in, but that it would be faster to do so. That was your fatal mistake as far as a CF career is concerned.
