I doled out well over a grand for my Mess Kit. It's Mess Kit!! It's custom!! It's going to cost you!!

Unless you are smart enough to snag a trip to Damascus and (unlike me -- snagged the extended trip, but not the brains!!) get yourself a rig tailored up for a mere $200 U.S. smackeroos.  :-[

FWIW, there are a few of the White Jackets around in the Air Force (I've ordered one, too).

The last few posts reminded me of that old MASH episode when Col Blake had a pinstripe suit made by a Korean tailor: and the tailor did the suit with the stripes horizontal!  :rofl:

I realise that (why would you think otherwise?), I just don't think it is that far out of line, especially if you consider that it is in Vancouver.  The tailor here recently told me that very few people get gold rank anymore, because it is so expensive.

I think the $170 was about Navy Mess Kit right ?  The lace on those are gold.
