Updated Army Service Dress project

The RCN has switched away from No 3s for shore units in Esquimalt as well, so I suspect there is more than just the CA's DEU shortages at play.

I wore No 4 "Work Dress" for the first few years I was in. It was dropped to simplify our orders of dress, and because it didn't look "military" enough.

I suspect the shittiness of the uniforms is exactly why it has been relegated to being used only a few times a year. If we had a "service" dress that wasn't miserable to wear, people wouldn't object to wearing it so much.
Before the Bay closed I picked up a couple of pairs of black Haggar pants. They don't wrinkle nearly as quickly as the issued pants, are stretchy, look contemporary , and are comfy. I wear them all the time. The only drawback is that the belt loops are designed for multicoloured belts some of the army folks wear.

FSTO said "mostly female, I assume". He didn't close the door to any other gender. I can see male sailors wanting to wear that in the heat of an Ottawa summer. :)

P.S. I assume those pics are from RAN uniforms, right?

You’re kidding right? We have a commodore who wears dresses all the time. She was the first to put her hand up to participate in the trial.
Why would I be kidding when I think we should have one standard of uniform? Waste of time and money to push multiple different standards for the same level of dress, for the same job/unit/element.

One job, one uniform, one standard.

I would say 2. One for fighting/work and one for ceremonial. And I'd leave mess dress as an optional 'you buy' item.

I am fine with different levels of dress, I am more referring to one standard within that level.
We have sucked roayally in regards to women’s service dress. if the women finally get something made for them I’m all for it. I’ve bought my own pants because the Logistik ones are bloody horrible.

What did you buy ? I'm interested... I hate our pants.

One of my past skippers bought his own white shirts.

From the Bay 🫤
Haggar - the only drawback is that the belt loops are too wide. Other than that, the pants are fantastic. Stylish stretchy and comfortable.
