Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Who is this 'some'? Where were they back in 2012/13 when a Republican Governor was putting this through? Where were they back in 2016-2020 during Trump's first term, and Trump's decision to 'fast track' the building of this bridge when that same Republican Governor was in power until they lost in 2018 to the current Democratic Governor? Where were they throughout the Biden years of 2020-24? This legislation was used close to 14yrs ago to make this happen - its not something new - and nothing was said, across both the Republican and Democrats in power.
No idea. Sometimes people don't notice provisions in constitutions or legislation until something brings it to their attention. Until Moroun starting squawking, the matter didn't have a high profile. None of that detracts from how interesting the provision is.
Stop inflecting your personal opinion on this matter, it tips your hand in your open support of Trump, his administration and their agenda.
Sorry to disappoint the demons in your head. I'm intrigued by the idea, especially with respect to greasing trade. I have no notion of whether equivalent powers exist for provinces in Canada. It would be interesting if AB could negotiate a pipeline company deal with the US, for example, or BC could negotiate a port expansion with China, in which the foreign partners provide the up-front funding and revenues are split after the funding advance is paid off.

We found out during the leadership vote (roughly, anyway) how many in "the party" support him. That answer might look different if the question was "how many in the caucus will still support him?"

I think they should open that question up to total party membership.

I thought Team Red couldn't recover after PMJT walked away, so I'm not the best oracle, but right this second, PP could do it if he makes noticeable changes in his approach. Each floor crosser = a narrower window for that to happen, though.

I think we're past a change in tone or if wears his glasses or not.

He served his purpose. That's now complete.

He could start by watching how Carney speaks, and speak the same way. I have only watched snippets of Carney talking, but in none of them has he played the political charmer (Trudeau) or "gotcha" (Poilievre) archetypes.

PP is a known quantity with a known political persona. If he were to suddenly change his manner drastically it would not be perceived as being genuine. The only real solution is to replace PP with someone who's persona actually matches the requirements of the time.

If all he dropped was the "gotcha" politics, he'd be better than many of our extant and recent political leaders.

If there is more, this could get ugly for the CPC.

‘Get it over with,’ former Conservative MP tells potential floor-crossers

Does make you wonder how many more may be thinking about it.

Going to be bad regardless of how it happens if it happens, current slow burn continuing or a group all at once.

Any more and Carney will have a majority even whth the open seats from resignations

Moroun started squawking about this over a dozen years ago, he launched lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit (some accounts say that its been 27-29) over the new bridge over the last 15yrs. Go and do the research. He has only found a sympathetic ear now.

Moroun lawsuits taint their desire to 'talk'

The above article is from 10yrs ago - 1 of his cases went all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada about the bridge, he lost...

Maybe Canada should expropriate (or threaten to) the Canadian side of his bridge. A international bridge of such strategic importance should not be private property in my opinion. The fact he actively interferes with our sovereignty and national interests indicate to me his private interests should be trumped.

Once the new bridge is opened it will be a case of bare knuckles capitalism, which bridge will be able to post the lowest toll and still be able to turn a profit. The Ambassador Bridge was built in 1929 and its old and tired. The new bridge will capture 70+% of the lucrative truck traffic because it has direct 401 access the moment you clear CDN Customs, poof, you've zipping along at 105km as a trucker. The Ambassador Bridge route as a trucker on the CDN side has you driving along Windsor streets for about 4-5km before you get on the 401. You need to navigate through about a dozen lights before the 401.

It will look ugly to those outside- but the PP wing has control of the party and he'll just continue to lever defections as betrayals to the cause and his core support will just lap it up. It actually helps build the us vs the world narrative and will reinforce the conviction of the believers.

Rather than more floor crossing, I'd like to see an organized PC Caucus within the broader CPC caucus. If Jivani is allowed to overtly self declare his MAGA love with nothing more than a "he doesn't speak for the party" non-rebuke, the members that don't like Poilievre's direction should build off that precedent, represent their own brand of conservatism under the CPC tent, and dare Pierre to throw them out.
