My pre-existing opinions on the JRE podcast aside.

I once again ask where was this Pierre last year?

EDIT: He also appears to be taking a page out of Churchill's book of not critiquing the PM on foreign soil and said "there is only one prime minister at a time", and also mentioned about being in constant contact with Carney and giving him updates about his trip and said there is a "mutual respect" between the two.

EDIT 2: Overall I think this is one worth listening to. Lots of domestic related things in Canada got talking time, here are just a few.

  • Poilievre says he wants Trump to "knock that shit off" regarding the 51st state comments
  • Condemned the American tariffs on Canada and the world.
  • On the topic of ICE style deportations in Canada he said "I don't think we need to do that," and said Canada is a very welcoming country.
  • On Alberta separation he said it "won't happen" and "at the end of the day, Canada's going to be united."

I think we may see his favorability increase in the polls if he stays the course and doesn't bog himself and the CPC down in hyperfixating again on whatever "woke" is currently being defined as and the greater "culture war".

Was a good interview. Very disciplined. I don’t think he walks away thinking it was a bad trip.

Now will it move the needle? Possibly but I bet the core audience that watches JRE are already on board. The media around it will help though.

Maple Maga will not be happy but who cares. Those guys need to be homeless politically in Canada. Glad that PP is finally pushing back with substance on tariffs, 51st state garbage, the myth that our rights were lost during COVID forever and Alberta separation.

Thx for the highlights package. Agreed re: where was this guy during the election? Now let’s see if the narrative continues on this side of the border - and how many loooooooong interviews he grants here & with who :) Credit where due - good show PP!

Im just over half through and I think it's actually boring but that's a good thing. I think JR actually struggled a couple times to keep the conversation going. But overall I don't think it will hurt PP.

I had a friend, not a PP or CPC guy, say he sounded like the PM in waiting.

I thought this was good:

And just for SaGs:

Pitter padder.
I can honestly say that having watched a bit of it, I like him more now than before.

A bit slow at times, but this PP would most certainly have given Carney a run for his money last April.

To be fair- shallow belligerent PP did do that. This version likely would have won.

If he commits, sticks to it, and expands the approach to committee and legislative proposals will be nothing but good for Canadian politics.

Although I generally dislike listening to interviews with sitting politicians, I’ll try to find some time to give this a listen.

Great interview. Canada doesn't deserve PP as PM.
I absolutely love the fact that he pretty much spoke up against most of the things you support and that you thought it was a great interview.
