Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Fouling will be in issue - and Copper solvents will need to be used to keep the barrel from build ups that will cause dangerous pressures.
Lead to the rescue!

Probably not, but we know it works. There are some alternatives out there.

Poland has a version of their service rifle specifically for their equivalent of Ceremonial Guard, with a number of differences to make it more parade friendly. Maybe we could develop a parade C7.

Or we go classic and pull out the Lee Enfield for ceremonial drill

Or better yet, C1A1.
Or we could just strap the damn thing across the chest, like the French, and never move it from there throughout the parade.

Or... we could just do carbine drill like we're supposed to.

Alternatively, we could gather some of the AR-15's collected through the 'assault style weapons compensation program' make them up into dummy rifles and use those instead of rubber guns.

Thoughts?

(Said VERY tongue in cheek....no civvie has 2 of the same rifle let alone a few hundred in the same configuration.)

Glad we're finally focusing on the important aspects of the CMAR program...it's appropriateness for drill!

What will happen in a unit with both types of rifle? How can they do drill?

Cats and dogs sleeping together!

Horrible take
Shotguns are exceedingly limited by ammo capacity, which makes them basically fucking useless in combat.

On the GL, I think the Grenadier is better suited by the M32A1 Multishot Grenade Launcher, (with a short carbine also issued). Then a M230A1 stand alone as an option for Squad/Section leaders for marking.

I do like a micro UAS option of the section/squad level. They are super small they can be controlled on a phone that’s already on the Member and it’s just a tool toolbox aspect. There are also slightly larger 40mm launched systems that can be launched as needed to gain SA. They can be set to follow mode / so clearing a trench system they can indicate limit of exploration on lead elements for fire support direct visually.

Now on the DMR. I am a believer in the DMR at the Platoon level. I’m less and less a believer at the Squad/Section due to High Pressure 5.56mm becoming viable.

Based on your delivery timeframe, I don’t think your new rifle will be high pressure compatible which I think is colossally stupid so com is running high car down here ( high pressure, carbine,) later this year. Having shot a high pressure option from one company I was hitting Larue’s out to 780m very easy with an EoTech and 3x mag from a 11.5” barrel.

There’s definitely still some fleas both on the ammo and the weapon side to work out on my pressure. But realistically what more you want at the squad/ section level? Especially when HighPressure LMG’s are included.
It's also funny watching guys do skeet shoots on CASFC (SQ/BMQ-L redux) as part of their active CUAS solution when I've done FPV drone circuits at +200Kmph.

Given higher pressure 5.56, I think we'll be in a good spot with a completely 5.56 loadout at the sect level between the carbines and LMG where a decade ago sect level 7.62 definitely had more merit. I wonder what the appropriate cycle rate would be on a HP 5.56 LMG given how fast our C9s are to most LMGs.
I have minimal exposure to grenade launchers beyond SQ and some ranges - the Eagle looks pretty cool and like a massive improvement. Does anyone actually use them?
CANSOF has a mixed fleet of stand-alone grenade launchers to include the Eagle, works well in the role.

Drones flying at 200kph aren't being used in Ukraine for FPV attacks though.
Ah yes, the shotgun is going to stop the 80-120kph FPV bomber drone which are being used for attacks in Ukraine.

The only good thing coming out of the AA CAUS shotgun fad is that it's removed all the bullshit waivers and barriers to using shotguns for ballistic breaches on ex and course (the thing I need a shotgun for most of the time). So the mysteriously missing PO 109 Perform a Ballistic Breach will return to RQIP like it was in the draft QSTP.
