True, but I'm sure that the Good Idea Fairies at NDHQ that read these forums might have something to say about it.That’s up to the leadership of the CAF. An old retired guy like me really has no say.

You could say the same thing about the ties.If breast pockets aren't an obvious requirement, as they have been deleted on the female uniforms, why keep them on the men's?
I didn't even notice that at first. I think ties for everyone is a good trade off to no breast pockets for everyone. You could say the same thing about the ties.
Because Man-boobs are an issue now?If breast pockets aren't an obvious requirement, as they have been deleted on the female uniforms, why keep them on the men's?
I think that belt would be more of a problem than the man boobs. Lot of army uniform wearing folks will doing their best Maj Gen Arthur Currie Impressions in that thing (deep cut I know).Because Man-boobs are an issue now?

I was at museum that had the WWII uniform of Major from the Saskatchewan Dragoons. I'm not a big man but I don't think I could have fit in that tunic when I was 16!I think that belt would be more of a problem than the man boobs. No, more of a shade of khaki.Looks good. What color are those ranks ? Gold ? The shading a lil hard for me to tell.
I'm guessing the lack or breast pockets has nothing to do with "requirements" and everything to do with looks. As shocking as it may seem to some, there are lots of women who like wearing clothes that compliment their figure, and uniforms designed for the male figure don't usually do that. Perhaps the CA is ahead of the curve in realizing that on average men and women have different body shapes, and a one-size-fits-all solution is not appropriate. If breast pockets aren't an obvious requirement, as they have been deleted on the female uniforms, why keep them on the men's?

Also, pockets make aligning name tags, medals, etc., far easier.
I expect that if a man doesn’t want breast pockets, he can just order the female version. Just as women can order the male versions if she prefers. It's how the current DEU works, so I don't see it changing.

I'd add that they are also about tradition, which is the the new CA DEU makes so much sense. It's not a 100% return to pre-unification, but it's close enough to be clearly inspired by the older uniforms.Dress uniforms are for show. And whatever uniform is the showiest without being gaudy is fine.
but then where would an officer put their pocket watch? If breast pockets aren't an obvious requirement, as they have been deleted on the female uniforms, why keep them on the men's?
So you think we should be in red coats?A modern dress uniform with a nod to all the folks who served Canada in the army since the time of New France is a good thing IMO.
