If breast pockets aren't an obvious requirement, as they have been deleted on the female uniforms, why keep them on the men's?

I think that belt would be more of a problem than the man boobs. Lot of army uniform wearing folks will doing their best Maj Gen Arthur Currie Impressions in that thing (deep cut I know).
I was at museum that had the WWII uniform of Major from the Saskatchewan Dragoons. I'm not a big man but I don't think I could have fit in that tunic when I was 16!

Still, they look much better than the shapeless green crap they have now (and rarely wear I might add)

I'm guessing the lack or breast pockets has nothing to do with "requirements" and everything to do with looks. As shocking as it may seem to some, there are lots of women who like wearing clothes that compliment their figure, and uniforms designed for the male figure don't usually do that. Perhaps the CA is ahead of the curve in realizing that on average men and women have different body shapes, and a one-size-fits-all solution is not appropriate.

Also, pockets make aligning name tags, medals, etc., far easier.

I expect that if a man doesn’t want breast pockets, he can just order the female version. Just as women can order the male versions if she prefers. It's how the current DEU works, so I don't see it changing.

Are you Mansplaining?

Unification was birthed in a time of Canada trying to reject all symbols and ties to the UK, as the UK was in the midst of divesting itself of most of the colonial territories. The Flag and the Canadian military were the most obvious targets of this drive and that the RCMP were able to avoid the tsunami of change was a testament to their status with the Canadian public.

A modern dress uniform with a nod to all the folks who served Canada in the army since the time of New France is a good thing IMO.
