I can't believe it. How did this happen?

There's an another factor that you forgot to think about. It's called timing... sadly you submitted an application during an economic crisis and right after we recruited alot of pilots. Putting wings on those new bodies takes time and at the moment the system is pretty full. It means that the...

What happens to fighter pilots' brains at high altitudes , BBC News

The selection is a very complexe process. There's alot of stuff put into considerations as for exemple: course ranking, attitude....         As for my personnal experience, I was surprised to be one of the youngest on my course in Moose Jaw at 26 years old. Wich mean, there was alot...

    Cormorant problems

Good day dapaterson,                               correct me if I'm wrong but you are asking if it's heresy that the CF close the Airborne School and leave the SAR support (I guess all of it, FWSAR and RWSAR) to the coast guard because we don't do CSAR? Why should we leave the SAR world because...

    SAR Tech

As a SAR pilot you go wherever the CF need you. Usually you are posted to a SAR unit then get your rating on type. After that, you do your SAR conversion and off you go on the flying schedule. The trend is that, if they need a pilot of a certain aircraft type, they can go get somes people in the...

    Career progression for helicopter pilots

My little finger is telling me that there will be a huge demand for gryffon pilots in a not so distant future. Oh and they will be green painted one!  ;D

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Please please please! Don't get into a pissing contest! It's all about how you fit into a community or if the said community wants you... Each one has his positives and bad sides depending on your point of view somes have more negatives than positives... As for who fly the most, well it's like...

Do I take the pilot offer??

Joining the flying club is not for everyone. You'll have to sacrifices alot, for example: being away from family for 8+ months for a course... It's alot of work but at the end it's an awesome job. For me personally, I don't have a job, I am living my dream. I don't count the hours I spend in...

    Aspiring CF-18 pilot...come on, give me a chance :)

I guess the big wait is to get to Moose Jaw and complete the course. We were 4 guys that learned to fly 3 types of aircraft in less than a year... so just get ready in case the snowball start to go down! You never know when you can go on fast speed!

    BFT / Aircraft Choice

As for group size, I would say around 10-15 at the beginning of course is the norm. Thing is, we are in a trade that loose a lot of people in training. For example: In PFT we started with 16 and ended up with 11. In BFT we started up with 13 and with ended with 9. At BHS... we got a nice 100%...
