Speedy recovery to the wounded!

Dozens killed in attack on Canadian convoy: official
Last Updated: Monday, February 18, 2008 | 6:39 AM ET

At least 35 civilians have been killed in a suicide car bombing that targeted a Canadian convoy in Kandahar, a police official in southern Afghanistan says.  Two Canadian soldiers were among the dozens of people wounded in the attack in Spin Boldak, the town's border police Chief Abdul Razek told the Associated Press.  The town is located near the Pakistani border.  The attack follows Sunday's deadly suicide bombing at an outdoor dog-fighting competition in Kandahar, where more than 100 people were killed in the blast ....

Suicide attack on Canadian military convoy kills 35 Afghans:  A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden vehicle near a convoy of NATO-led Canadian military personnel in southern Afghanistan Monday, killing 35 civilians and wounding more two dozens others, police said.  The attack took place in Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province on Monday afternoon as a Canadian military convoy was passing in the main market of the district, which is near the Pakistani border, said General Abdul Razek, a border commander.  He said that at least two Canadian soldiers were wounded and two of their vehicles were damaged ....

Canadian military targeted in suicide bombing:  As families began burying the victims from Sunday's devastating suicide attack in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, a Canadian military convoy was targeted in a second attack on Monday.  At least 35 civilians were killed when a suicide bomber attacked the convoy near a market in the town of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, bordering Pakistan.  Two Canadians were reportedly injured in the attack, only a day after Afghanistan's deadliest bombing since the fall of the Taliban in 2001 ....

RIP to the fallen!

When will they learn, when will they ever learn!

How the hell can you possibly negotiate with animals such as these.  Bloody Dion, Layton, May and their ilk are beyond my comprehension of understanding their brand of logic on how their aims would be achieved on this subject.  Friggin Dudly do Rights...

Strange how we're not hearing the hue and cry from the usual suspects about the collateral casualties. Silly me... that's because we didn't cause them. God forbid the "too many dead Afghans" crowd criticize the Taliban.

All the same, my condolences to the Afghan people.

I am guessing that you have not been on the G&M site today, or any of the political boards. All of that crying is going on with full force out there, and it is nauseating. The left of this country make me believe that we as a society have gotten too fat, lazy and ignorant... Unfortunatly, only a massive calamity would correct that.

RIP to the fallen and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

... I'll be pretty darn happy when they're all shot down.

I refer to these especially enlightened left wing luminaries as "anti-humanitarians" as the Taliban can do no wrong, because mayhem and terror is apparently part of "indigenous self determination".
I feel terrible for the average Afghan, I can't see how we can tolerate people living under such fear of barbarian attacks. The enemy knows precisely what they are doing, TB/AQ IO is far, far more savvy and sophisticated than anything we see in this country. It is brilliant really, for every score of innocent civilians massacred, the calls to turn over Afghanistan to the butchers is renewed. Being a left wing dupe is double plus good for peace!

It is really sad to me... They (the lefties on boards like G&M) seem to think we just want a fight, and desire nothing more then to trample people. I am an infanteer, and I do not want to have to kill anyone, but if necessary I will (my trip to the sandbox did not have me on the front line). I do not desire to trample anyone, and in point of fact, put myself on the line in Bosnia to prevent that same from happening. Try to tell a leftie this, and get smeared.

It is doubly sad, when these very same people claim we do not talk enough about what we do. We try, but then promptly get shouted down as a "propagandist"... I guess we are just supposed to hang our heads, and allow the pot heads to kick us in the guts repeatedly, in the name of peace...

I'm a civilian who would ask you to continue.
You are one of the very few people in our society who have been there and actually
possess some facts not pre-digested by the media.
Many of us value your opinions and impressions more than you know.
Yes, people with preconceived agendas will argue with cheap smears.
People who have no facts will value their opinions more than yours.
That's free speech my friend - I hope you continue to use it.  :salute:

Thanks... Perhaps we could institute a "ride along" program. Bring a couple of the more vocal opponents of the mission along for a CIMIC mission or two. Or even a Shura to meet the people they claim to want to protect.

Ahhh, what a logistical nightmare that would be though, and, would most likely be useless anyways.

In a liberal democracy there is usually a second front to a conflict.
The PR fight at home.  The CF still has a battered and incongruous
public and perhaps self image.  ( Thank a liberal ) I don't think
anything that might change this is unworthy of the effort.
We need to KNOW what being Canadian is, not just think we know.

I've been told directly by people who clearly don't know, what
our military can and cannot do and what we should be doing
in Afghanistan.  I've seen historical and statistical information
disregarded as BS and I wonder how people cling to their odd notions.

It's simple really - If you hear something compelling often enough
it becomes true.  So, to flesh out my respectful suggestion,
be compelling.
