You're kidding right? Or trolling? Pollievre has made policy promises and announcements every single day since the campaign started. Carney has stolen half of them and he's just finished his third time in a 3 week old campaign not taking media questions or flat out hiding from the campaign trail. To be fair though, he was probably trying to figure out how to hide more investments and cover for US-style dirty politics.Ill give the liberals one thing, they have released more of their platform then the CPC leading upto the debates so far
We could have an entirely new thread of pictures.
I'm sorta glad you believe that.Carney released his plan to modernize defense procurement. Ill give the liberals one thing, they have released more of their platform then the CPC leading upto the debates so far
Claiming Carney stole half of them is a cop out, sound policy is sound policy. Especially when many of the things "stolen" are just things the private sector has been screaming about. I've watching half a dozen of both parties press conferences, The CPC relies on hand picked and filtered questions from only the media it wants, and a limit of 4 questions. LPC has no limit on questions or follow up, and have answered many more in comparison. The Us style dirty politics as you call it, is seen in both camps, but its much more visible by only one leader and his chief of staff. The CPC is also the only party that on the campaign trail has said they will invoke the NWC, which is a interesting position to take on crime. You're kidding right? Or trolling? That's not giving them one thing, that's giving them a free pass.
A lot of NFL players run their fists into womens faces.Say what you want about the guy, but he ran 14,000 yards in the NFL
Obviously convention/custom isn't effective enough. That's why constitutions should be written down. It's still possible for constitutionally empowered parties to refuse to exercise their powers, but more difficult when everyone can see exactly where abandonment occurs. Westminster-style parliament might still be effective in Britain, but for some reason(s) - most likely the way incentives and means for acquiring and retaining power are structured - ours has gone astray. They generally aren’t the PMs powers.
Our Senate, GG and the Crown give up their powers to the PM, they could stop any PM in their tracks if they so wanted to. Our issue isn’t necessarily our PM having to much power, it’s the other checks and balances refusing to act as such.
There was something eerily familiar about the federal Liberal campaign promise made on April 7. The pledge? A Mark Carney-led government would create 15 new national urban parks by 2030.
If that sounds familiar, it should. Back in August 2021 — just ahead of another federal election — then-Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson announced the Liberals would establish “up to six” new urban parks by 2025. That promise even had financial backing in the 2021 federal budget.
So here’s the obvious question: How many have actually been created?
The answer is zero.
Part of the Liberal Defense Plan 10 years ago.
- rebuilding the Royal Canadian Navy and axing the plan to purchase the F-35 fighter jets.
- include guaranteed industrial benefits for Canadian companies.
- pave the way for procurement of not only additional ships for the Navy but long range surveillance UAVs, rescue aircraft and additional projects of the Army
- promised to use funding in a way to better equip the military
- re-invest in building a leaner, more agile, better equipped military. This will also include ensuring adequate support systems for military personnel and their families
- cut down on the size of bureaucracy so that the CAF has “more teeth and less tail,”
- Better support and care will be provided with the reopening of nine Veterans Affairs offices that had been closed while hiring 400 new service delivery staff including case managers starting in April of 2016.
- Trudeau promises to budget $20 million to create two new centres for veterans care, one specializing in mental health, PTSD and related impairments that retired CAF members and first responders.
2020 plan is more of the same, including a lot of 2015 promises cut and pasted.
The 2025 plan is just like the old plans, just coming from a different mouth. And it's not a plan so much as a bunch of promises.
Defence
All too often, we have taken our peace, security, and prosperity for granted. We no longer have that
luxury. Canada’s Conservatives will ensure that Canada is ready and able to defend our national
interests and protect our way of life.
Canada’s Conservatives will ensure that Canada has a plan for the dangerous world we live in. Our
defensive posture must account for increasing threats in the Arctic, along our coasts, in the sea, in
the air and in the cyber domain.
Supporting The Men and Women of the CAF
The sight of military members at Long-Term Care homes dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks was yet
another reminder that the brave men and women of the CAF put their lives on the line to protect the
lives and safety of Canadians. We have a moral duty to stand firmly behind them and give them the tools
and support they need.
Canada’s Conservatives will recognize that Canada’s most vital defence asset is its people by:
• Ending harassment and discrimination and making the CAF a better workplace
° Enhancing the participation of women, Indigenous people, and visible minorities through
proactive, targeted recruitment at the community level.
° Ensuring a respectful and professional workforce free from sexual misconduct and
discrimination.
° Calling a public inquiry into harassment and discrimination in the Canadian Armed Forces and
make immediate changes such as removing commanders’ access to their subordinates’
medical files.
° Ordering a service-wide independent investigation into sexual misconduct in the military.
° Introducing policies to ensure future complaints are made to an external, independent body
outside the chain of command.
° Making the CF and DND Ombudsperson an independent Officer of Parliament.
• Addressing the challenges of deployments and postings
° Being conscious of the heavy operational toll that tears military families apart and depletes
Canada’s ability to deploy, only deploy our forces when they have clear and achievable
missions along with the appropriate resources needed to achieve them.
° Lengthening postings where possible to enable families to put down roots.
° Working with the provinces to help ensure that the process of moving between provinces is
as seamless as possible for military families.
• Prioritizing recruitment and retention, including an emphasis on retraining and skills
development to allow those willing to serve to continue to do so.
• Working with provincial governments to develop comprehensive job protection legislation
that shields reservists who leave their day job to deploy, since protecting your neighbours
should not cost you your job.
• Reviving the Regular Officer Training Program (ROTP) at civilian universities to provide
educational opportunities for youth serving their country.
• Harmonizing trade training in the Armed Forces with Red Seal Qualifications so that military
service becomes an incubator for skilled workers who can transition easily and productively
to the civilian economy.

Defend Canada Against Cyber Attacks
Canada’s national security requires being prepared for the cyber warfare threats we face. The CAF
currently lacks the cyber capabilities it needs.
To ensure we are prepared, Canada’s Conservatives will:
• Finish standing-up a properly funded, equipped, and staffed Canadian Armed Forces Cyber
Command to defend Canada from cyber-attacks.
• Emphasize reserve participation in CAF Cyber Command.
• Establish closer collaboration between the private sector cyber industry and CAF Cyber
Command.
• Develop capabilities for cyber operations.
Defending our Arctic sovereignty
With melting sea ice, we can no longer depend on Mother Nature to defend our North, whether from
Russian territorial aggression or environmental damage from increased commercial traffic. Canada’s
Conservatives will:
• Expand the Canadian Rangers in number and mandate while making investments in their
preparedness, equipment, and training.
• Refurbish and expand our RCAF Forward Operation Locations and allow civil airport authorities
to co-locate and utilize runways.
• Complete the Nanisivik Naval Facility on Baffin Island and develop a new Arctic naval base at
Churchill, Manitoba that will make the Arctic more accessible to the Navy year-round and
provide joint operation of these ports with local communities.
• Deploy new autonomous vehicles for Arctic surveillance operations in the air and at sea as part
of a new Canadian sovereignty, deterrence, and detection strategy, with Bagotville as the main
site to host the Government of Canada’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft.
• Expand the RadarSat constellation and launch more low earth orbit satellites for
telecommunications and defence in the Arctic.
Modernizing NORAD
Canada’s Conservatives will update and enhance the North Warning System as part of NORAD and
extend it to protect the entire Canadian Arctic, including our Arctic archipelagoes.
Being a Trusted NATO Partner: Reinforcing the Cornerstone of Canada’s Defence Policy
NATO is the greatest defensive force on earth. Keeping it that way requires each member, including
Canada, to meet certain expectations and contributions.
Canada’s Conservatives will renew Canada’s commitment to NATO by:
• Increasing spending on national defence to move closer to our 2% aspirations.
• Expanding Canada’s contribution to NATO Baltic Sea Air Policing and NATO’s Enhanced Forward
Presence in Latvia.
• Intensifying Operation UNIFIER, Canadian Armed Forces’ military training and capacity-building
mission in Ukraine, supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons, and reinstating the provision of
RadarSat imagery.
• Creating a NATO Centre of Excellence for Arctic Defence at the Resolute Bay CAF Training
Centre to enhance cooperation and interoperability with allies.
• Ensuring active Canadian participation in NATO training missions and NATO Centers of
Excellence in the areas of Cybersecurity, Strategic Communications, and Energy Security.
Defend Our Partners in the Indo-Pacific
Increasing instability in the Indo-Pacific region is a security threat Canada can no longer ignore.
Canada’s Conservatives will expand our current regional defence participation by joining the
Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad).
Canada currently contributes several naval vessels to operations in the region, but we don’t have a
voice at the table in the larger conversation around regional security taking place in the Quad.
The Quad is an informal strategic alliance between the United States, Japan, Australia, and India,
frequently referred to as the ‘Pacific NATO.’ Its purpose is to provide a counterbalance in the
Indo-Pacific to China’s growing authoritarianism, regional influence, and military expansionism to
preserve economic and national security in the region.
As a Pacific nation, it is in Canada’s interest to join our allies in securing the future of a peaceful
Indo-Pacific.

Investing in our Armed Forces and our Economy
Canada’s Conservatives will streamline defence procurement and expedite the acquisition of military
equipment desperately needed by the Canadian Armed Forces.
Successful military procurement requires focused leadership at the highest levels of the Canadian
government. To that end, Conservatives will appoint a Minister for Defence Procurement with real
power to make decisions.
Additionally, Conservatives will take the politics out of procurement and will work across party lines by
using the Standing Committee of National Defence for advice and input on future military procurement
projects.
Canada’s Conservatives will prioritize the following procurements:
• Fast-track the selection of a new fighter jet to replace our aging CF-18s through the current
open competition and get the new fighter fleet into service as quickly as possible.
• Remain committed to the National Shipbuilding Strategy by proceeding with the Canadian
Surface Combatants, icebreakers, Joint Supply Ships, and Coast Guard vessels.
• While awaiting the completion of the two Joint Supply Ships, order the Obelix from
Chantier Davie to complement the Asterix and make Davie a full participant in the National
Shipbuilding Strategy.
• Begin the process to replace our aging Victoria-class submarines.
• Procure two armed, heavy icebreakers for the Royal Canadian Navy to contribute to our efforts
to “own our north” in the face of increased Russian and Chinese Arctic activity.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre revealed today Part I of his Canada First plan to take back control of Canada’s North and counter the growing threats to Canadian sovereignty and security from adversaries like China and Russia. Poilievre said as Prime Minister, he would:
- Double the size of the 1st Patrol Group of the Canadian Rangers, from 2,000 to 4,000 Rangers.
- Acquire two additional polar icebreakers for the Royal Canadian Navy. Poilievre also committed to delivering the two polar icebreakers the Seaspan and Davie shipyards are now building for the Coast Guard by 2029, while the Liberals refuse to provide a timeline.
- Build at least one permanent Arctic military base within two years: CFB Iqaluit, Canada’s first permanent Arctic military base since the Cold War.
“The Canadian Arctic is under threat. After 9 years, the NDP-Liberals have weakened our military and lost the respect of our allies. Our safety, territory and trade with the U.S. requires we take back control of Canada’s North,” Poilievre said. “My Canada First plan will protect Canadians and give the brave men and women in the Canadian Armed Forces, especially the mighty Canadian Rangers, the resources they need to defend our North so we can secure our skies, seas and soil.”
Hostile powers want our resources and shipping routes, and to be within striking distance of our continent. China has now declared itself a “near Arctic state,” even though its borders are approximately 1,500 kilometres from the Arctic Circle.
Russia also continues to build up its military presence in the North. Last year, the Department of National Defence noted that Russia now “possesses a robust Arctic naval presence with submarines, surface combatants and an icebreaker fleet much larger than those of other Arctic powers.” Russia has reopened Soviet military bases, expanded its Northern Fleet and developed new hypersonic missiles designed to evade NATO’s defences.
Under Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Canada prepared for these threats. But since 2015, the Arctic has been ignored and our military has been abandoned. Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee has warned that the Royal Canadian Navy is in a “critical state” and Canada still doesn’t have a permanent military base in the Arctic.
Poilievre’s plan shows only Conservatives have a plan to take back control of Canada’s North. The Canadian Rangers provide self-sufficient mobile forces to support the military. Doubling the number of Rangers will ensure they can continue to report suspicious and unusual activities while providing local knowledge and expertise.
The two new Navy icebreakers will be on top of the current polar icebreakers the Seaspan and Davie shipyards are now building for the Coast Guard. Liberals won’t say when they will be delivered, but Poilievre has committed to delivering the Coast Guard icebreakers by 2029, in addition to the two new Navy icebreakers.
Importantly, Poilievre committed to building Canada’s first permanent base since the Cold War by establishing CFB Iqaluit, in consultation with military experts and Indigenous Peoples.
Iqaluit already has a Forward Operating Location and a functional airport and seaport that can accommodate the Royal Canadian Air Force. The base will be able to host a full RCAF wing to launch and land new F-35 fighter jets to deter, intercept, and destroy threats and land Poseidon P-8s aircraft to carry out search and rescue, anti-submarine warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) work. The base will also fuel local economic development in Iqaluit with better runways, energy systems, transportation and infrastructure.
To pay for this plan, Poilievre said he would dramatically cut foreign aid, much of which goes to dictators, terrorists and global bureaucracies.
These three steps are only the beginning of Poilievre’s Canada First Plan for the North. They will come on top of the already-planned Defence Update and NORAD modernization plans that include, among other things, advanced air-to-air missiles, air-to-air refuelling aircraft, upgrades at the Forward Operating Locations in Inuvik, Yellowknife, Goose Bay and the new base in Iqaluit.
Other upgrades include Airborne Early Warning Aircraft, Northern Operational Support Hubs, new submarines to replace the Victoria-class fleet, tactical helicopters, and a new satellite ground station in the Arctic. Common Sense Conservatives will deliver these things faster than the current Liberal plan by eliminating red tape and delays.
If we are to be a sovereign and self-reliant nation, we must take back control of our north, secure all our borders and stand on our own two feet. Only Conservatives have a plan to put Canada First.
Well, in 2015, 2019 and 2021 they promised to form the next government...I'll bite. What election promises have the Conservatives failed to deliver on?
For that they would have to be elected, but for the sake of argument we could compare the 2011 and 2015 policies.I'll bite. What election promises have the Conservatives failed to deliver on?
Right. For that they would have to be elected
, but for the sake of argument we could compare the 2011 and 2015 policies.
I fell for their promises back then prior to the 2011 election.Right.
Sure. Dig up Conservative policies from 2011 and we can critique what they failed to deliver on by 2015.
Kick rocks. I’d totally get excited about jet packs and plasma guns.I fell for their promises back then prior to the 2011 election.
I haven’t voted with defence in mind since then. They (the parties) could promise jet packs and plasma guns and I wouldn’t get excited about it.
The Mandalorian Party....(the parties) could promise jet packs and plasma guns and I wouldn’t get excited about it.

2011 - "Here for Canada" platformRight.
Sure. Dig up Conservative policies from 2011 and we can critique what they failed to deliver on by 2015.
-Their service to our country is indispensable,
and to ensure the Reserves have the numbers
necessary to carry out the many duties asked
of them, a re-elected Conservative Government
will increase the number of reservists by 15
percent, bringing the Reserves’ total strength to
30,000 in the next four years.
-We’ll also streamline and shorten the
current reserve recruiting process,
improve training opportunities for reserve
personnel, and broaden the eligibility
criteria to include permanent residents
in order to tap into this significant pool of
possible recruits and facilitate their path to
full Canadian citizenship.
-our Government increased the number of
Junior Rangers participating in this popular
and worthy program from 3,400 to more than
4,200 in 2008. If re-elected, we’ll increase
their number yet again, to 5,000, in time for
the organization’s 20th anniversary.
You misread. Those things are exciting. Them promising them is not.Kick rocks. I’d totally get excited about jet packs and plasma guns.
