2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Seems to be the case this time yes. But even then I doubt a majority will vote them in. Only polling at 43% or so. Not exactly a majority. But I fully expect the typical blame Canadians for being stupid etc etc from one side that refuses to see their own issues should that come to pass.
Liberal party has did an incredible job over the last 10 years of scaring Canadians. Go back and watch their ads from 2015. Conservatives bad scary racist homophobic abortion ar15s.

10 years later theyre still pushing it and thanks to Trump, that very clever strategy is being super charged. Conservatives are an election away from banning abortions after all, just look at the US!
[That becomes a convenient game of look at the US when it's beneficial to one sides argument but don't look at them when it's not]

Not what I said but yet another piss poor attempt on your at putting words in my mouth.
Posters here arent stupid Remius. I promise you they know eactly when you're saying something and when I'm saying something.
For the sake of debate I'll flush my response out more.

You're right Remius.

I personally think keeping China happy appears to be important to Canadian voters, specifically in the GTA.
Transparency and accountability aren't super important it seems. Sad but the crowd wants what it wants.

If you can’t fathom that maybe some voters have other issues top of mind
Of course they have other issues on top of their mind. What exactly did I say that suggests to you I don't think other voters prioritize different issues?

Some people clearly don't care that the Prime Minister backed an MP who joked about giving a Canadian citizen over to China to be murdered or whatever they planned.
Some people give that a cursory "oh yeah, that's terrible, anyways".
Or what I personally think approaches election fraud (Trump buttons).

Some Canadians prioritize gun ownership and some prioritize making hard drugs legal. Some don't care that $187B was given away over 10 years with nothing to show for.

Foreign interference and tax dollars disappearing are my big tickets obviously.

then I fully expect you will be one of the people playing the accusatory blame game I noted above.
I promise I will blame Canadians for their voting choices when they lead to positive or negative impacts on Canada.

Liberal platform is out, deficits till 2029 (predictable given the current situation) and specifically for the CAF, we are getting global eye not wedge tail.

The Liberals also promise to “Establish Buy Canadian” standards for federal infrastructure funding while also maximizing Canadian steel, aluminum, and forestry products.

On the surface this is great. I thought that we already had something like this in place where the government attempts to buy locally (read Quebec) first, like those combat boots we manufactured en masse prior to bootforgen? Never the less, buying Canadian is great.

I'm beating a dead horse here but the problem with this is that if the Liberal party takes their normal approach to vetting, we'll probably have shitbag companies getting contacts because they're Canadian. The same way we used the honour system when companies would self-identify as indigenous and poof, win contracts based on that.

If they plan to Establish Buy Canadian standards they better establish standards for vetting "Canadian" companies. Lots of room for abuse here.

Buy canadian and cheapest bidder can't mix. There are companies in Canada that make good quality products that could work for us, including boots. Problem is their products cost more but the gov goes for cheaper so we get crap.

Anecdotal, but day 2 of advance polls sounds like it's having very good turnout too. Friend 1 that lives in the same riding as me waited 40ish minutes and Friend 2 in Toronto waited 2 hours and was there at 9AM, the line tripled in size by the time it was their turn to vote.

I am becoming more convinced that while this is currently just the advance poll (that happened to land on a long weekend), the actual election days from here on out should be made public holidays. The more people voting, the better.

Double-edged sword that.

That statement would work for someone calling for something to be done to the place.

The mirror of that from critics of the idea might be something like, “$60 billion deficit, and they’re really going to spend money on the boss’s house?”

Don’t matter which party’s in power, the other side will grumble for the sake of grumbling. Job of the opposition is to oppose, and all that.

How many more Liberal candidates/MPs tied to CCP influence campaigns and now secret police stations before the Teflon wears off and we start to understand how deep CCP influence in the Liberal Party of Cabada goes?
