A Deeply Fractured US

Looks like federal agents (probably ICE and/or CBP) just shot and probably killed another one in Minneapolis. This video is already making the rounds and regardless of the officer(s’?) articulation, this will explode.

There is a female bystander (pink jacket) right there filming the whole incident. That video (if it is out there) would give a pretty good view of what happened.

Star Tribune is a pretty good source… all city police called in to duty.

Well this isn't sketchy at all. From the live page @Cloud Cover linked.

Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building. ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

This report from the Daily Kos says the man shot was an observer.

The Whipple Building is the main HQ for ICE operations in Minneapolis. Trying intimidate witnesses?

37 years old
Licensed gun owner with a permit to conceal carry.
No criminal record other than traffic tickets.
Police will not release his name.

Family needs to be informed first.

Here's a clearer photo of before the shooting from the video I posted above.

Brandishing a phone, not a weapon. Things are getting dangerously close to becoming something fiery to our south.

Again, just imagine what is going on that doesn't get filmed.

Here it is.

We can also see now that the agent in the baseball cap and grey jacket removed the 37 year old's firearm from his waistband, he never even touched it.

He seems to be so tight into the ICE agent space he’s being pushed back. To some extent I think it would be naive for us to think there isn’t a lot of provocation that is an attempt to cause any incident they can.
It’s troublesome ICE takes the bait every so often.

DHS is saying he had a handgun and two magazines. Whatever you think of ICE and their tactics I don't think carrying a concealed weapon (if true) while you are planning to confront armed law enforcement officers is a very wise decision.

Well I just watched a video of another protestor make it plainly and perfectly known he’s also conceal carrying with a permit. He’s says he carries because Minneapolis is unsafe from criminals.
It’s a very strange dynamic.

I’ll delete this. It’s not what happened.
The guy was trying to help a lady who was cs sprayed and then slipped on the ice.

Kinda like when someone wears a short skirt - they get what is coming to them....

Nice try, but no. Concealed carry is legal in Minnesota so nothing wrong with a person carrying as they go about their business. However, while legal I think that common sense would suggest that if you are planning on confronting armed law enforcement officers...the same officers that are regularly physically accosting other protesters then maybe having a handgun concealed on your person might significantly increase the risk of something bad happening.

Maybe more like choosing to wear a mini-skirt in to the violent sex offender wing of the prison. Completely legal but maybe not the best decision.

Edited to add: This doesn't change the fact that this poor individual was murdered by ICE. I am in no way defending their actions but I still think that choosing to carry while protesting isn't a choice that I think is wise.

How many of those "law enforcement officers" were the civilians who casually brought assault rifles to protests prior to signing-up for ICE after the Trump 2.0 election win?

The name has been released, Alex Jeffery Pretti.

A slowed down portion of the Pink Jacket video, right as the shots start. Again, the image of the firearm DHS shared was already in the hands of the ICE agent in the baseball cap and grey jacket who pulled it from Mr. Pretti's waistband. He never had the opportunity to touch it himself.

There is a reason a lot of these guys wear masks…
