CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

It also highlights one key fact we keep forgetting. Canada is a small market compared to America, but on a global scale it is not a small market.

Any market of 40+ million is noteworthy, a rich country with a market of 40+ million is worth making efforts to gain or maintain access to.

The LCBO being the biggest single purchaser of spirits on the planet is a testament to this. It can make or break labels.

When this whole ordeal kicked off Canada probably should have started with: "We are immediately legislating and approving, including an initial investment, of an energy corridor from coast to coast to coast. We want industry to come to the table to take this on right now."

Taking American booze off the shelf is such shallow thinking. But I guess that is easier than building some tubes in three directions across a territory that isn't on the same unity page.

Everyone uses that UBI as if it means something. If the LCBO didn't exist, we could look at a useful measure, such as where ON ranks against entire comparable political jurisdictions.

Well, Singh is back up on his soapbox. He's using all his "We can't bring down the government until I get a deal for workers" shtick. i'm pretty sure we're back to square one when the House decides to get back to work. The motion of No Confidence will be scuttled by the orange liberals again, voting to keep the incompetent and dishonest Carney government in place. We are our own worst enemy. Singh has never been able to read a room.

Someone just shoot me now.

Even if we did, it would still be, at the very minimum, a decade out. Do you think there plans rolled up in a tube somewhere, pipe ready to go and a workforce available to do it?

I don’t share your optimism. The longer Americans wait to remove him, the more lawful functionaries he can purge & the more anti-constitutional sycophants he can appoint. The more checks & balances he can subjugate.
I’m hoping that the worm turns after the 100 days are over.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an unfortunate choice of wording, but this is a heck of a thread to say “we are our own worst enemy”.

Now that the tariffs have actually been imposed: as a Canadian, and as Trump’s most outspoken and steadfast supporter on this site, do you support his policy choice to impose tariffs on Canada? And has your personal support of him changed at all?

The Republican party controls both houses, unless they break ranks, he aint getting impeached, after the midterms maybe

CERB2.0 incoming.

Sure. All you need to do is get Quebec on board.

While we're fiddle fucking around with them, make it a national priority to get Churchill on line and ship the oil to New Brunswick. Make it happen this year. There should be thousands of able bodied unemployed workers to swarm a project like this.
