I see Canada as the pink-haired, septum-ring-wearing underachiever who still lives in his parents' basement, never quite managing to launch despite a few valiant attempts. He spends much of his time envying his brother's success and resenting the fact that his own sense of moral virtue has not delivered the comfort and fulfillment he expected.
The United States, on the other hand, is the arrogant and successful sibling. After a blowout fight with Dad, he left home to make his own way and ultimately became wealthy, influential, and popular. These days, Dad still gets under his skin, and he's starting to notice more of his father's flaws reflected in himself. His relationship with his brother is strained; they were close when they were younger, but now they barely talk. To make matters worse, he's going through a messy divorce and regularly posts questionable things on social media.
