Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Should units that might actually use them during a parade or deactivate their current or partial stock when they get the new ones and use the deactivated ones strictly for ceremonial? 🤷‍♂️

We probably have a few hundred C7A1s in storage around the country, we could simply consolidate them all in the Alta Vista vault for use in ceremonial purposes.

The entirety of the PPCLI was deeply perplexed that not buying them was an option
I still remember the QMSI signed me up for a NPF deduction for my sash so I can be awarded one upon my promotion.

Was very clear that I was happy to pay for my own sash. I didn't understand why my pay was deducted without my permission but everybody whitewashed it.

I think “mandatory purchase” of collar dogs is more common than it should be.

I got my sash paid for by my dues - the sash can be ordered for free off Logistik. I had to pay for my stick.... and all my accoutrements

I’m not sure this component of the Colt CZ Group is Canadian, I believe a lot of its key players are American. The CEO was the CEO previously of EOTECH.

This is an example of their product although this LPVO is 1-8 not 1-6. Tech Data Sheet — 1-8x28mm.png

Colt Optics has now publicly released their initial optics line up. Interestingly no 1-6 LPVO mentioned at all, only 1-8. Either Canada has decided to contract a Canadian only bespoke optic or the CAF releases had an error.

Details on their website: VMR 1-8x28 - Colt Optics

Press release details here as well:

Colt Optics had a booth at the recent USASOC Sniper Comp in Ft Bragg. They had the new CAF Carbines out on display with the 1-8.

Edit: The confusing part was they had both Colt Optics, and Colt Tactical Optics signage - but the folks in shirts said Colt Optics, and the booth was listed as Colt Defense.

I would not be surprised if Colt had bought Armament Technology, as Andy was the ELCAN guy and had also acquired USOptics and a few others.
