Defending Canada from American Military aggression

Where exactly would we store the leased nukes and/or where would we build the factories?
Concurrently, how fast can you build a more robust GBAD system than the ones the US, Israelis and Ukrainians are penetrating currently?

Vlad talks a lot about his nukes but he has them available and they are a threat even if their reliability is unclear. But there is a reason why he, Xi and the Ayatollahs have adopted hybrid warfare. The Americans hold (or held) all the conventional cards.

The only way it works for us is if the US gave us a grace period or somebody is willing to cover us with their own nukes and put their cities at risk.
A more viable could be to focus on buying GBAD/IAMD and LRPF from the US and others. If they are desparate enough for the sales and trust enough with a 3000 km hypersonic missile in North Bay.

Carney couldn't handle Trump complaining about a commercial.
I don't see any Canadian leader having the intestinal fortitude to be a big boy and do big boy things.

Say what you will about the nuclear powers of the world, but they all had the guts to put things on the line to protect their nations no matter what.

Countries that didn't, Canada, Ukraine, now suffer from neighbours that look at them with territorial expansion on the mind.

You're right, the US is our Russia. :ROFLMAO:

Why is there so much fantasies coming from the left in Canada of a US invasion? It's almost like they want it to happen to fulfill some sort of emotional self-gratification regarding their views on Trump.

Brother, how many times has he called for Canada to join the USA as the 51st state?

How many times has he said he's serious about it?

He said the same about Greenland and turns out...he's not trolling.

So when someone clearly says he wants your country, and the only constraints he has is how belligerent he wants to be that morning, take it seriously.

The only other countries in the world facing this level of neighbour wanting their land is Eritrea, Denmark,Taiwan and Ukraine. All of them seem to take it pretty seriously.

Calling for Canada to become the 51st does not mean tanks and troops are set to roll across the border.

The Greenland issue is a different matter for the other thread.

Until the Gov of Canada takes the fantasy of US take over seriously, this is all fearmongering which no one has any control over - so stop dreaming about it. The government gun-grab is still a go, the Liberals don't want Canadians owning weapons for self-defense. How are we supposed to defend Canada when the government is removing the basic tools we would need? Hell, does the CAF even have enough C7s and ammo?

Oh really? Since we have no control over it we clearly cannot discuss it.

Good to know. :rolleyes: :ROFLMAO::sneaky:

Interesting idea.
Not a particularly rational idea, though.

We got through several decades of Cold War without needing our own capability in case we got explicitly singled out by the USSR and our nuclear-armed allies decided a risk to themselves was not worth the cost of protecting Canada.

All the time we had our own Soviet sympathesizers openly protesting and agitating. It's easy to guess some were preparing for "the day" we might find ourselves at war with the USSR.

In place ahead of Canada we have people loyal to a province, or a region, or another country to which they return after they've secured a passport of convenience. Some of them are habitually returned to Parliament by their constituents.

All of that we could live with.

Trump, apparently, we can't live with, to the point some people are musing about breaking all the principles we stood by while disavowing nuclear arms.

Trump has said he would compel Canada to become part of the US. That is not a polite invitation. That is hostile.

I don't think think he has interest in sending the 10th Mtn Div across the Gananoque bridges. And I think he views shedding American blood as something to be avoided at all costs, something I don't think his predecessors felt the same way about.

I imagine it would be attempted through economic means and strangling our economy. He probably also wields enough power and influence to have us ignored, even more than now, on the international scene.

And being in their whole sphere of influence in the donro policy maybe he arbitrarily gate keep any foreign trade and political interactions.

No one is coming to our defence.

Combine these and Canadians won't have much of a choice...

I think the CAF ended up with approx 80,000 C7A2 rifles - but more than 250,000 C7 rifles have been built since 1982

(Some gun nut will surely correct my peasant info, I'm sure)

So about the same number of AR-based rifles as a typical mid-West town in the US?
