Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

The fact that the Edmonton public school board validly included “Atlas Shrugged” due to sexual content probably gave them pause.

Some of the books getting banned have material that would get you charged for displaying in a CAF work place.
And yet others have been part of the curriculum since 2006. The minister in several press conferences seemed to not understand his own directive. Which shows how poorly thought out and worded it was

The NDP leadership is underway — and the party is limiting signatures from 'cis' men

Rules indicate that at least 50 per cent of the total required signatures must be from NDP members who do not identify as a cisgender man — meaning a male whose reported gender corresponds to their reported sex at birth.

The party also requires a minimum of 100 signatures be from “equity-seeking groups” such as racialized members, Indigenous members, members of the LGBTQ+ community and persons living with disabilities.

The party did not immediately respond when asked how officials would reasonably verify if members identified as cisgender men or as being part of “equity-seeking groups.”

Finally, at least 10 per cent of the signatures must come from young New Democrats.
I'm not at all concerned about this party making a comeback.

I don't see organized labour or young male tradesmen flocking to a party that actively says " we don't want your votes."

My main concern about this is we have essentially the 3rd largest political party in Canada actively discriminating based off sex, sexuality, and race in their leadership race. It isn't so much that I expect them to do particularly well, rather the fact that it is socially acceptable enough for them to allow it.

The Bloc are not doing this.

As for the 4th largest party in Canadian politics, I have no doubt that this is socially acceptable in their circles but abhorrent in society at large.

This is a party that needs to be chasing the blue collar, tradesmen vote, and are actively telling them that their votes are not needed.

Comeback? They are flirting with the dustbin of history.

Oh wow. These guys can’t stop committing political malpractice. Just when I thought they had a shot at a resurrection in the next election, they do dumb shit like this. 🤦‍♂️

Why are the major political parties being run by incompetents?

... it's all too easy to build a bunch of new prisons, hire a bunch of staff ...
Ontario seems busy with prison construction in different bits of the province (more here & here), but I don't hear much else about it elsewhere.

In fact, if it was all that easy, and as popular an idea as some might think, I wonder why I don't remember seeing it on any of the Blue or Red federal platforms anytime within recent memory, or hearing candidates sell the idea?

They keep this up and they might as well embrace the number 3, because thats going to be their seat count come next election. I think the bulk of Canada can no longer tolerate extreme woke-ism, I would bet Mark Carney appearances of shifting Liberal policy to the center was a draw for many swing voters

100% agreed. They were at a fork in the road, and it looks like they chose poorly.

They can say goodbye workers, unions, single parents, tradespeople, etc. if they keep on this outdated woke shit.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

"It'll be paused for a couple of hours while the ministerial order is rewritten. The direction will be to take books with pornographic images out of the libraries and to leave the classics alone. I think that there was some misunderstanding of the order, so it's being made clear."

Alberta premier says new order banning school library books with sexual content coming soon

what happens with the youth centres? Are they not overloaded as well? Addressing that issue properly might serve to reduce the need for adult centres.

The NDP is no longer a party. They are now simply a political club and those few who were elected are now independents. They are as relevant as the rhino party without the sense of humour.

Good question.

Education maybe? I had no idea how packed jails were until I heard about it first hand from someone inside the one in Ottawa. I didn't really care before, and afterwards the small minded part of me thought good.

Other people might get mad when they read about a guy murdering his wife after getting bailed (from assaulting his wife) but they don't picture themselves as victims of criminals out on bail.

It's an interesting (and all things considered, ironic) example that gives canceling It's cold outside vibes.

Some people describe the sexual encounter scenes as forceful dominance, aggressive, coercive, and lacking consent.

The social aspects are interesting as well. Its been described as an every man for themselves outlook on life. Anti taxation, anti welfare, and anti regulation. It dismisses the value of ordinary workers and especially social programs. I'm surprised it's not Liberals trying to ban this book. I haven't read it myself mind you.

The Green Party without increasing seat count may outnumber the NDP after next election

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre wants the federal government to axe the temporary foreign worker program, saying it has flooded the market with cheap labour and made it harder for young Canadians to find work
Well well well...PP is actually out there making sense. Why he didn't do this during the election is suspect, but I'll give him begrudging credit for saying the right words at least.
