Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Smart move bringing him into a role because now AB has a voice in cabinet
Is “special advisor” a cabinet post? If so, OK politics. If not, better than no AB voice in the boss’s ear to some, but not enough to satisfy others. We’ll see what PMMC & Co. let him do.

They're even showing in Alberta the CPC's lead has shrunk to +4 over the LPC, and Carney (54%) is now viewed more favorably than Poilievre (45%) in the province. Weather is right for more floor crossings.
Not to derail this thread, but I wonder how much of the LPCs boost in AB is a direct result of the behaviour and speech of the AB separatist movement.

The more the cozying up to America happens, the more likely it is that people will pull away from a party too closely associated with separatists.

Alberta has a 54% approval rating for Carney, so it's probably more about his leadership...

Overall, two-thirds (64%) say Carney has done a good or great job handling the Canada–U.S. relationship so far — nearly identical to the proportion (63%) who approve of his overall performance as prime minister.

You might be on to something, further down the page.

Smith sitting at -60%.
