Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

I don't believe giving the LPC that kind of majority will be good for Canada, but I'm also battered and bruised from the last decade so my bias is admitted.

He should have stepped down a year ago. I simply cannot comprehend the level of hubris one needs to hang on, now. He has to see he is the problem.

While it would be tough to blame Carney for calling one given current polling, so far we’ve yet to see signals than an election is in the cards.the calling of the three byelections reinforces that.

I imagine all of the purely political types in his orbit are having aneurysms trying to convince him to do it.

To give him credit, I think he is a doer in a world of announcers. And I think he thinks he can negotiate with anyone and elections are distractions.

Hes probably good leader, he just picked a shity party to run for, IMHO.

why try and eat the whole cake when one slice is enough? if they just gotta win the by elections to get a majority, thats easier to focus resources then a national campaign.

A zero to one seat margin isnMt a great position… A buffer of ten or twelve seats would probably feel better to him. But- as @Halifax Tar says, and I agree, I think he’s more focused on getting things done.

That said I wouldn’t rule one out in the summer/fall timeframe, pre-budget.

IMHO the American mid terms may play heavier. He needs Trump to be a boogey man.
Unless the dems get full control of both chambers Trump is here to stay, he may be the boogieman, but Carney isnt playing that card, he seems more focused on results, and I think he wants results he could campaign on if he were to call an election.

MOUs dont win elections, getting people high paying jobs, and making their lives better does

Is the highlighted part happening yet ?

Do we have comparably popular podcasts to JRE ?

Just to go back to this, he was recently on Paul Wells’ podcast on Substack. Of course it won’t show up on Apple’s rankings, and I haven’t looked up his rankings on Substack lately, but he has posted impressive numbers in the past.

Agreed. The only reason I think he has to go early to to replace the Trudeau re-treads in caucus for fresh meat. But based on recent actions, he looks like he’s focused on other things other than running an election anytime soon.

If the PCs still existed, he would be a decent Red Tory. I’ll take him as a Blue Grit for the time being. I do, however, look forward to the flotsam and jetsam of Team Sunny Ways being walked off the plank…

My pre-existing opinions on the JRE podcast aside.

I once again ask where was this Pierre last year?

EDIT: He also appears to be taking a page out of Churchill's book of not critiquing the PM on foreign soil and said "there is only one prime minister at a time", and also mentioned about being in constant contact with Carney and giving him updates about his trip and said there is a "mutual respect" between the two.

EDIT 2: Overall I think this is one worth listening to. Lots of domestic related things in Canada got talking time, here are just a few.

  • Poilievre says he wants Trump to "knock that shit off" regarding the 51st state comments
  • Condemned the American tariffs on Canada and the world.
  • On the topic of ICE style deportations in Canada he said "I don't think we need to do that," and said Canada is a very welcoming country.
  • On Alberta separation he said it "won't happen" and "at the end of the day, Canada's going to be united."

I think we may see his favorability increase in the polls if he stays the course and doesn't bog himself and the CPC down in hyperfixating again on whatever "woke" is currently being defined as and the greater "culture war".

interesting, so 24 Sussex is basically gutted at this point to remove all the hazards, seems easier to rebuild now if its down to the studs

Hmmmmmmm...maybe the Nelk Boys??

I've never listened to them or even knew who they were, but they made an appearance at the bar I work at a few years ago & holy s**t...

The bar was crammed full, and I probably had 2000 people outside who wanted to get in. For some guys I had never heard of, they were inssnely popular

I believe their podcast is called The Full Send Podcast (looks like roughiy 2.18 million followers)

🤷🏼‍♂️
