My pre-existing opinions on the JRE podcast aside.
I once again ask where was this Pierre last year?
EDIT: He also appears to be taking a page out of Churchill's book of not critiquing the PM on foreign soil and said "there is only one prime minister at a time", and also mentioned about being in constant contact with Carney and giving him updates about his trip and said there is a "mutual respect" between the two.
EDIT 2: Overall I think this is one worth listening to. Lots of domestic related things in Canada got talking time, here are just a few.
- Poilievre says he wants Trump to "knock that shit off" regarding the 51st state comments
- Condemned the American tariffs on Canada and the world.
- On the topic of ICE style deportations in Canada he said "I don't think we need to do that," and said Canada is a very welcoming country.
- On Alberta separation he said it "won't happen" and "at the end of the day, Canada's going to be united."
I think we may see his favorability increase in the polls if he stays the course and doesn't bog himself and the CPC down in hyperfixating again on whatever "woke" is currently being defined as and the greater "culture war".
Was a good interview. Very disciplined. I don’t think he walks away thinking it was a bad trip.
Now will it move the needle? Possibly but I bet the core audience that watches JRE are already on board. The media around it will help though.
Maple Maga will not be happy but who cares. Those guys need to be homeless politically in Canada. Glad that PP is finally pushing back with substance on tariffs, 51st state garbage, the myth that our rights were lost during COVID forever and Alberta separation.
