Maybe if we reopen CFS Bermuda, we could throw in priority postings for people who do far north taskings.Make no mistake; Churchill would be an isolated and probably crappy posting, particularly for families. Maybe CAF should consider a ‘fly in/fly out’ rotational model for many of the hypothetical staff like a lot of the work camps or some of the remote RCMP posts do? Families could live where it makes sense to live, and every two weeks people rotate in and out. Bust your ass for two weeks, fly home to Winnipeg or Edmonton for two weeks off. Might even be cheaper than cost moves up there.
That's the formal city census numbers only too cited for Fort Mac.Fort MacMurray
1961 - 1,110
1971 - 6,681
1981 - 31,000 (boom census data unreliable due to transients and temporary housing)
1991 - 33,698
2001 - 30,000 - 40,000 (boom census data unreliable due to transients and temporary housing)
2011 - 61,374
2021 - 68,002
There is no reason, to my mind why places like Churchill and Iqaluit, Goose Bay and Gray's Bay, given the right circumstances, couldn't achieve similar growth. Yellowknife and Whitehorse both started as trading posts.
Once upon a time the entire white population of the lower mainland fitted inside a stockade at Fort Langley.
No city in Canada started with a divided highway servicing it.
The market imperative for the railroad to Vancouver in 1867 was just as obscure as that to Churchill. In fact the prospect for the Churchill route in 1867 was probably better tha that of Vancouver because the HBC had already started laying rail for wagonways at portage points to move both freight and York Boats.
That's an ideological tent held together by shoe lace and duct tapeWhy not? Because almost half the Conservative base approves of Trump. According to an Angus Reid survey , 33 per cent of Conservative voters give Trump an “A” or a “B” for his first year of his second term and fifteen per cent give him a “C.” In contrast, zero Liberal and NDP voters grade him higher than “C” and over 90 per cent give him an “F” — compared to only a third of CPC voters.
Seems like the Davos speech really worked in his favor domestically. He just needs a solid two quarters of positive economic news to cement his position. If he can get south Korean to bring manufacturing jobs to Southern ontario, that will likely flip a few areas red.Oof.

suddenly making Ontario a have province again, now that would be interestingPlus resource extraction and processing industries (eg steel mills).
GBAD was part of the original unsolicited proposal they made so I am not surprised, they did offer the K30 biho, which would be a good solution with both guns and SAM'sHello cherry on top.

Looks like they're stealing ideas from the CPC and people from the NSP, staking out a big tent.

Both parties working together for Canada?
All for it.
Unfortunately, the inverse has occurred in recent years, insomuch that the Loyal Opposition under the CPC (and it's leaders) has taken the name literally; often opposing legislation that is in-line or adjacent to their own platforms.Which is a recipe for disaster in the Westminster Parliamentary system...
Or the last session, where opposition allows a minority government to act like a majority and ram through unpopular legislation and shut down committees.Which is a recipe for disaster in the Westminster Parliamentary system...
If the opposition is not continually on the government like a terrier on a rat colony then you get something like... BC![]()
