Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

I can’t say I’m really impressed with the last few announcements from the PM. We have a “sovereign wealth fund” that isn’t, and little being done for our stagnant economic growth and productivity except for rehashes of the same old policies we’ve been doing for years.

I figured if anyone “got it”, it would be the current PM.

But why did you figure that? Because he said so himself? The guy was literally the backroom voice to Trudeau and the LPC... didn't the decade of decline count for anything when assessing voting intentions?

He's arguably at least partially responsible for where we are now and has a hand in England's mess.

I do not understand the messiah complex some have for this guy.

*I suspect more.

Maybe because he's the only adult at the table currently?

Englands mess didn't start until 6 months after Carney left the BoE, post Brexit, which he warned about the dangers of. This is a case where he literally called it, and it happened. The massive spike in inflation was largely then pinned onto Lizz Truss who was forced to resign by her won party, intern she blamed Carney when at the end of the day recommendations he made as Govenor fell of deaf ears.

is this the same Carney who had the nickname Unreliable Boyfriend while he WAS in England as chief banker?

That nickname was because he stated interest rates wouldn't change until unemployment dropped before a certain level, then it dropped much faster then anyone anticipated. Leading him to rethink the policy, leading to interest rate changes. If anything he was a poor communicator which critics pounced on.

Dude was honest as a public servant. Government ignored his advice and did it anyway. Then chose to blame the public servant who has zero control over policy.

There are legit things to criticize Carney on. Especially in his time as PM here. But it's a real reach when people push talking points from British Conservatives who ruined their country because of internal party politics, couldn't admit it and are casting around for blame.

Just want to confirm 6 months of time admonishes anyone of responsibility for things ?

It's not the time. It's the events and level of control he had that determine culpability. How exactly is a BoE Governor whose advice was refused, responsible for consequences of the government not following that advice?
