I originally supported MAID and still do in certain cases. But I don't like it being pushed seemingly as an alternative to medical treatment.

Id be very interested to find out where and under what conditions she recieved a "maid pamphlet" given how as a rule one must request access to maid and be approved by doctors before anything happens.

There’s gonna be a narrow overlap of blue collar unionized workers; those in manufacturing/construction industries that also see a lot of union membership to which NDP may appeal. But- I think most of what you’re seeing there is CPC losing a lot to the LPC from the centre to centre right, and the LPC bleeding off a smaller proportion of support on their left flank. Simplistically, LPC are both shifting rightwards and expanding their support from the right under PM Carney. This leaves some of their left wingers disillusioned, and they flee to NDP.

While it’s not known exactly how many Canadians go to the U.S. for health care, according to a poll conducted by Ipsos in March 2024, 42% of Canadians would go to the U.S. and personally pay for routine health care if needed. That’s 10% more when compared to January 2023. Of those who responded, 38% said that they would travel to the U.S. for emergency care, a number that's up 9% from the previous year.

Yes and No.
As someone who grew up in Windsor (200k) across from Detroit (metro area 3+ million), health care was always an apple to oranges case. Not sure now, but ALL high risk pregnancies were sent to Detroit for delivery, alot of immediate high risk heart surgeries were sent there as well. Heart surgeries where you were 'stable' but needed major heart surgery you asked to get yourself to London ON for the surgery or sent in an ambulance if you didn't have family to drive you there. Some other surgeries/procedures were done in London as well.
Outside of the major population centers in Canada, health care is really a roll of the dice. But - that is the EXACT same in ALOT of US states. Rural America is suffering as much as low population density Canada is.
And I can tell you from many, many discussions with my US family, that the quality of your health care is DIRECTLY related to the size of your employer. I have family members that pay 1500$+ a month for health coverage - plus they pay a 'co-payment' of 25$ for each and every doctor's visit AND on top of that they have a 12,000$/yr 'co-payment deductible' - which means that YOU pay the first 12,000$ cost for an medical procedure BEFORE they health care coverage starts. My example is just one of hundreds of different options. I have other family members who works for large companies that pay half that in monthly payments and have copayment deductions of 1/3 of that.
