Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

Fuel isnt the only thing adding cost, fertilizer is spiking fast. Farmers are in for a rough year

It's weird that this war is going to benefit so many parts of the Canadian economy.

Oil and Gas-Alberta,Saskatchewan and NFLD & Lab

Fertilizer- Saskatchewan

Aluminium is spiking-Quebec

Shame about how many people are going to starve to death this year, but certain sectors in Canada stand to benefit.

And because of globalization, we are forbidden from taking care of our own needs first - then selling the surplus to a global cabal...right??

(Open question, please correct me if I'm wrong on this. Not meant in a snarky way)

I don't think this is what winning is supposed to feel like...

Nope, capitalism. Companies are free to sell to who they want. And they want to sell to whoever will pay the highest.
We could take over the companies and make them sell to certain people at certain prices. That's not capitalism, that's an aspect of communism.

Countries don’t sell to countries. Companies sell to companies. When you say ‘we… take care of our own needs first’, that only logically works if you’re talking about forcing companies here to sell to Canadians at a discount versus selling into the broad market at market rates. That’s bad for a lot of reasons.

Canadians are going to starve or other nations?
Canadians?

No, I wouldn't imagine. We can absorb the increase in food prices, as much as we grumble about it.

There are nations in Africa and Asia that just can not pay for fertilizer at those prices and can not compete with the first world in terms of bids for a limited supply.

Farmers or governments in Mali, Sudan, Congo, Bangladesh competing in a open market with farmers in France, Canada, USA, Germany?

Not happening. Many will be starving this year.

But Canada will be making money from the situation. Weird dichotomy

No, not really.

I would sacrifice a few points of GDP if it meant that millions didn't starve to death but if it's going to happen, might as well make money off of it I guess...

Be nice if those countries spontaneously had a Star Trek style post-scarcity utopia emergence.

Even if we had the technology to make that happen today, I don't think humanity as a whole is mature enough yet for it to not immediately turn out like every attempt at doing the communism thing.

Marilyn Gladu Caught In Potential Criminal Bribery Scandal Over Floor Crossing Pork For Projects

Isn't she on the record saying the floor crossing was good for her personally too or something along those lines?
I would be absolutely astonished if proper legal advice was not sought and carefully followed in whatever was done. This is far from the first floor crosser, some have crossed right into cabinet.

A lot of hearsay in that article and not a lot of evidence and fact with a headline that makes it sound like police are already investigating when they arent

its a definite possibility. With fertilizer prices doubling and tripling, the input costs are not going to be assumable in some markets. Even in the US 70% of US farmers are cutting back on those inputs.

On birth rates discussion - we should recognize this isnt a solely Canadian issue, in fact far worse in other high or middle income countries. Its not 100% one cause or another, but a combination of higher education/literacy rates, emanicipation of women, urbanization, declining religiosity and economic conditions all contribute to the trend. Its spreading too, birth rates have plateaued or are declining in the Third World too. Rwanda had a birth rate of 8 or so in 1960, its not 3.7. Egypt had a rate of 6.8 in 1960, its not 2.75 . Honduras had a rate of 7.1 in 1960, its now 2.5. Turns out when women are treated like people, they dont tend to want to have 8 kids anymore.

This phenomenon is global.

Check out their other headlines. Just as sensational and clearly skewed in a certain direction.

These two were my faves:

No author's listed, no ownership listed, very little organic traffic. Looks like a lot of bots trying to push its content in the UK though. This has tons of red flags that CFINTCOM OSINT group warns people about.
