Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

I dunno is he ? This is what google tells me...

Have some substantiation or just a drive by smear ?
If I had to guess:

@brihard kindly shared an appeal court ruling that explained his conviction for participating in a pyramid scheme. https://www.canlii.org/fr/qc/qcca/doc/1995/1995canlii5191/1995canlii5191.html

Other online sources suggest there was a later out of court settlement that saw CMR award him his degree.

Let's see what the alma mater fellow alumni have to say.

That's a pretty glowing endorsement.

I will quote the last line:

From the CMC’s to the national stage, Sylvain’s career reflects the values of intellectual rigour, leadership, and service.

@dapaterson seems his fellow alumni think he's worth listening too.

Sylvain being stupid in his early 20s and somehow people think 30+ years later we should disregard what he says. He is an analyst not an ethics teacher.

Its his knowledge and ability to analyze trends in food production, marketing and distribution that we all listen to.

@dapaterson you seem rather obsessed with discrediting and harping on his past? Sylvain is not running to be an MP. Its gis knowledge we we need.

I do just that. Thank you Uncle Mark for taking defence much more seriously, actually considering oil and gas and thinking about the economy.

I have publicly praised him a few times. I wish (its just that) he would go all the way, not hesitate and completely eradicate Trudeau Liberal ideology
My biggest tissue with the Trudeau liberals was not really the ideology but the execution. "Don't completely fuck up the planet and ruin it for our children's future" doesn't sound like something we should completely irradiate.

When people can't defend against content they will often attack character.

Sylvain does a regular segment on a local radios show, I don't always agree with what he has to say, but I can recognize he's an expert in his field.

Regardless of what shenanigans he got up to 30 years ago.

There is lets not f-ck up the planet mind set and then there is lets either make shit up or grossly exaggerate problems
-Cows were demonized as BAD for the planet, that is complete utter BS. Mismanagement of Cattle or any livestock is poor for the environment, same with human living, vegetable production, water purification, etc.
-Carbon is NOT BAD, good grief, carbon is a freaking life essential element, thats it. Hell too much oxygen can be deadly too. Without atmospheric carbon, plants don't grow and give off oxygen
-Stop blaming every storm on "man made climate change" and then exploiting that fear to implement rules and ca$h grabs
-Then the man made climate scammers who genuinely make errors, need to then own their mistakes instead of doubling down for the sake of ego and/or money

Carbon isnt bad for the environment, the disruption of homeostatis is.
The natural world is NEVER in perfect homeostasis, carbon fluctuates up and down. Before man discovered and controlled fire, look at the massive fluctuations of carbon in the atmospehere

Ever wonder what happens every time a volcano "burps"?

No matter how we try, some forest fires are natutral, ever wonder how much carbon floods the atmospeher?

Go into a wedding hall at midnight in the midst of a rocking party and measure the Carbon PPM and it can easily hit 20,000-40,000 PPM, which according to the climate change alarmist that is catastrophic, now kick everyone out and come back 8 hours later, measure it and now your probably under a 1,000 PPM

ENOUGH of the religious zealotry of "man made climate change" alarmism which seems to have ulterior motives and//or ego driven

Cows are not bad for the planet: they are bad for your cholesterol.
I don't want to derail this thread but it goes to pure fabricated horseshit people spread. Dr Ancel Keyes was an ego driven asshole who did far more harm than good.

HDL and LDL cholesterol are NOT bad, they are vital for growth, immune system function, sexual health, mood, longevity, etc.

Too high triglycerides is the bad guy and that comes from too much SWEETS, breads, pasta, SWEETS, fruits, starchy veggies, SWEETS basically most carbohydrate sources

Also processed seed oils are bad as well as they drive up inflammation high

In human biology there is essential proteins and fats, no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. In fact humans have a low tolerance of carbohydrates.

Meat, especially ruminant meat such as beef is vital to human health.

as Furniture could probably attest, there is no such thing as homeostasis in climate: it is changing and it has always changed. There are periods of time when we have been hot and when we have been cold. It is the same with precipitation or the lack of it. oops, sorry I said I would stay out of it.

Natures trends towards homeostatis, of course things change. But when we emit enough carbon in a couple hundred years to reach levels similar to what was found in the miocene epoch (400ish ppm) compared to the pre-industrial 280ish ppm - youre going to have some effects. These cycles you and Rick reference take hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years to chnage things, not a few human life spans.

One other thought to touch on - someone mentioned that concerns about atmospheric carbon are ridiculous since carbon is essential for life. Thats the wrong observation drawn from a true statement. The real issue is what kind of life is that good for? We evolved as a species in a period of global cool temperatures during the late pliocene, as did most extant mammals. Start rapidly reverting to the conditions from other epochs and a lot of nature probably cant keep up. I like a biodiverse world - probably not a bad thing to express caution when messing with natural systems we dont fully comprehend.

Would be nice to see some movement on dealing with criminals like this.

Personally we I think we should just put them down. We put uncontrollable and violent dogs down, these criminals should be no different.
