I don’t know enough about international cooperation in aerial firefighting… Do ‘we’ send help in the sense that Canadian federal or provincial governments benevolently dispatch their own water bomber fleets to fires in the U.S.? Or are Canadian water bombers in the States privately owned and simply hopping on a contract? I want to be confident about what we’re claiming credit for and if there’s actually credit there to be claimed.Alternatively we advertise how much of a good ally and friend we have been, withdraw support and make it very clear their actions and words have consequences.
Clearly the Americans have taken offence that the only two countries who retaliated against their tariffs were us and China. That is a point of pride for me. It doesn’t seem to matter if you stand up or lay down to them, they are going to treat you horribly either way.
