Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

As much I as think he needs to leave, he made a big mistake not letting Canadians see this version of him. And I dont think he can get it back.

Agreed on the yellow 100%. In spite of him appearing on more MSM than he used to, he still seems to be a bit more ... guarded? stiff? ... than he is on platforms where he's more comfortable.
Perfectly normal for a senior Conservative strategist who got Ford elected with three consecutive majorities to say this:

“When you elect leaders who are completely and utterly unaccomplished prior to entering politics and who have entered politics in their 20s, you are going to be very vulnerable to running against somebody who has actually done something with their life.”

“And why [Andrew] Scheer is still sitting in the caucus is the same reason why Poilievre will end up sitting in the caucus after he’s done being leader: because he is unemployable in any other job,” Teneycke added.
Kory's burned hard Blue bridges long before this, so it actually is "normal" - for him, anyway.

New details on Gordie Howe Bridge deal confirmed, following confusion caused by Mark Carney’s remarks

For the first 15 years, Canada will pay down debt incurred to build the bridge using money left over after sharing revenue with the U.S.

Seems like a strange mistake for someone of PM Carney's pedigree to make.

Carrying costs for the bridge are being paid whether open or closed. Some of the expenses covered under the agreement as well.

Which is better - some income now and the bridge open, or no income, continuing expenses, and the bridge closed?

Never, ever,agree to a shakedown.

I'd say the bridge opening now would be better.

What concerns me more is this:

a. A Harvard-educated former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England made what appears to be a surprisingly amateur mistake; or

b. Prime Minister Carney knowingly provided inaccurate information.

Like I said, weakness is starting to show, overtly, and there is no one to capitalize on it...

At this point PMMC could broker a deal making us the 51st state and Canadians would think hes a god.

His popularity needs to tank, but it wont happen until an alternative exists and PP is not that guy.

1. Economic Participation: Canada will provide annual economic participation payments, outside the 2012 Canada–Michigan Crossing Agreement equal to fifty percent (50%) of net bridge and crossing related revenues for the first fifteen (15) fiscal years of bridge operations. Net bridge and crossing related revenues is all revenues collected with respect to the bridge, less all incurred operating costs of the bridge. Such payments shall be made to a United Sates-Canada Economic Development Fund, established and solely controlled by the Government of the United States.

2. Eligible Fund Commitments: Canada and the United States will reasonably agree on the objects of the United States-Canada Economic Development Fund, which will be for the benefit of the United States and trade between Canada and the United States.

3. Toll Governance: Canada will direct the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) to inform the Government of the United States regarding proposed toll-rate adjustments during the first fifteen (15) fiscal years of bridge operations and to seek the United States’ consent where:

a. a proposed toll-rate increase (i) exceeds ten percent (10%) within any fiscal year and (ii) would result in toll rates that are above the average of comparable regional crossings; or

b. a proposed toll-rate reduction would result in toll rates falling below the average of comparable regional crossings.

The Government of the United States must provide its consent or notice of withholding of such consent within thirty (30) days of notification from WDBA, failing which consent shall be deemed to have been provided.

4. Crossing Agreement: Nothing in this Agreement in Principle shall be interpreted as amending, modifying or superseding the 2012 Canada–Michigan Crossing Agreement or the ownership, governance and financial framework established thereunder.

5. Implementation: Officials will develop and finalize the legal, financial and administrative arrangements necessary to implement this Agreement in Principle as expeditiously as possible.

6. Bridge Opening: Upon confirmation of this Agreement in Principle, the Parties will direct their respective officials, agencies and authorities to undertake all actions necessary to open the Gordie Howe International Bridge to commercial and passenger traffic on or before 27 July 2026. The Parties, along with the State of Michigan, shall also work together to hold a ceremonial opening event no later than 3 August 2026.
Wait a minute....I think we found out where Carney is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

The agreement looks like an MOU, but clause 4 means the original deal is still binding.

Like I said, weakness is starting to show, overtly, and there is no one to capitalize on it...

At this point PMMC could broker a deal making us the 51st state and Canadians would think hes a god.

Carney may have pulled a fast one.

Would its be in Carneys political favor to keep Trump attacking Canada ?

Animated GIF
His political interest lies in keeping Lewis and Poilievre as the heads of the other two major federal parties.

And also keeping May - she's the best thing to happen to anyone who wants to sideline the Greens.

Okay, so from what I can ascertain.

The Agreement in Principle, AIP, is set on american terms. But the AIP is unenforceable until clause 5 is hammered out. Until clause 5 is hammered out, clause 4 is in effect, the original deal.

So when the bridge opens, Canada collects the tolls and it everything proceeds as normal, except the net revenues sit in a holding account, waiting on resolution of clause 5. (Canada could spend it, but if the americans have their way they would need to refund it)

So Carney, being a banker, is probably going to foot drag this until after the mid terms, and create a economic dependancy that is harder for trump to just shut down.

Optically, its a win for Trump. Functionally, it depends who wins the long game and Carney is betting he can outlast Trump here.

This seems quite likely.

Yeah, and he needs to walk a tightrope.

If he gloats that "he's got this" trump rages and turns the screws. If Carney capitulates in public, he looks weak to the public.

So he's stuck using contradicting statements without framing it in terms that would upset trump or the public, which makes a pretty intelligent banker sound like a he doesn't understand how money works.

You play to the level of your competition.

And there is no competition. No credible alternative. No one against which to test one's mettle. Steel sharpens steel. Opposition matters. And The Opposition (no matter who the party in power is) matters even more. It must be competent, credible, and a viable alternative.

I am begging the CPC to sort its shit out so that we get the most out of this government.

There is no doubt the CPC needs to get their ducks in a row. Thats not my point.

Does Carney need a Trump to win, as much as PP needed a JT to be popular ?

Did I misinterpret this sentence?

His popularity needs to tank, but it wont happen until an alternative exists and PP is not that guy.

As to this, I wonder why it matters? Although the parallel struck me immediately, I read it differently. It is one thing to be unable to pivot in time to captialise on a huge advantage against PMJT. It is another to be faced, like every other country in the world, with an undisciplined bully and thug who also happens to bound on destroying Canada....
