Reconstitution

My understanding is instead of a universal medical standard, its now more based on what trades you are looking to join as. Certain conditions might disqualify you from infantry, but not say HRA/FSA for example.
Exactly. Trades were asked to provide input on what cats was needed for their people and this was taken into consideration so that they can do more trade centric med requirements. For a large part HRA/FSA does not need anywhere near infantry standards as the trades doesn't really do field time. Even on deployments they are not out patrolling, they are in offices on base. let's get over the "every member is an infanteer" mentality. Bring on the purple uniforms!!!

Well not so fast . Civilian here with long ago Army reserve experience. I was a little shocked attending the Greenwood Airshow last August walking around an important Canadian base that had invited fellow P-8 Poseidon owners, namely the USN ( 3 A/C ) and RAF ( 1 A/C).
The Canadians were morbidly Obese and some of those folks were having some trouble on a warm, not Hot August day in the Annapolis Valley. The Allies were younger and far fitter in comparison. Sadly a lot of the Canadians looked like Bureaucrats in non fitted Cadpat. The Griffin assault display however was excellent and dynamic. I truly feel that the last nine years have allowed the Forces to slide into just another Fed Department and even the Donald has noticed.

You lost me at purple uniforms. Pass, no thanks. We're finally pulling away from that.

Could be that after years of cuts the folks doing the work don't have time for PT on work time anymore.

People say we should have forced PT, until all the admin slows down even more, and suddenly PT gets cut again.

I always find it interesting that the people most vocal about fitness tend to CBT arms folks who come from u it's that can afford to down tools multiple times during the week to schedule gym time. They tend to forget that most occupations don't have that luxury.

If we want change, the first change needs to be that unit PT is mandatory, and can not be cut for admin convenience.

Just before I got out of the Regs in 1996, I was a Wpns Tech who had 6 M-109s and all the small arms etc to take care of. I was alone as my boss got posted out. I still had enough time to get my work done AND do morning PT. Granted, I didnt have much time to spend hours on my phone or doing stupid s**t on my computer or playing Euchre.........

See I call BS on that excuse. Over half of my career I had no time for PT during work hours and maintained exempt on the old test and Silver or higher on the FORCE. People are just lazy and have a poor diet.

Oh look... two people who enjoy PT, and made time for it pretending there isn't a cultural issue regarding PT in thr CAF. These sorts of attitudes are toxic, and non-constructive.

We tried your way for the last 2+ decades... maybe we need to try something else.

I read, but I read because I enjoy it. I don't go around calling people who don't read what they aren't forced to read lazy and dumb. They have different interests and require outside motivation to do things they don't like.

It's pretty easy, the CDS mandates all units will incorporate 1 hour of unit PT per work day with the appropriate time for showering and allowances for COs to nominate duty pers exempt for that day of duty.

Reading comprehension is a job requirement that does not need daily refreshers. Being fit is a job requirement, although not really enforced, given that 3/4ths of us are fat pigs.

Eat Less. Move more. Your life depends on it.

I know for example that at the unit where I currently am posted, the CO mandates 1.5 hours daily for PT for military members.

Yet is hasn't been done... indicating there is a lack of interest at the top.

Read more, expand your knowledge base, and improve your ability to articulate ideas.

Being well spoken, and generally well informed is more important in my work than lifting sand bags quickly.

I get that Cbt arms folks tend to think in terms of fitness being primary, but for most jobs it's secondary. As such, it gets dropped when the primary tasks need to get done.

Saying shit like this makes me think you're one of the 75%.
