But she has been LPC since she was young. Apparently her activities with the campus Liberals at SFU were legendary. She may have let her membership lapse since the BC Liberals cut their ties from the federal party.

Yeah her name might still be mud in BC, but she’s probably not as well known east of the Rockies and may come across as an attractive package to Liberal Trudeau-haters out that way.

I think she would do surprisingly well. I'm betting Liberals are desperate to get back to supporting their party without looking like idiots for supporting Trudeau. Anyone will be seen as a new face and justifiable reason to come back (and ignoring the 9 years of fuckery).
Lots of Canadians just dont care about ethics and missing or misappropriation money.

While remembered in her home province as the leader of a party — the B.C. Liberals — that represented a coalition of federal Liberals and Conservatives, Clark has been consistent about where her loyalty lies when it comes to the federal stage.
She was a member of the Young Liberals during her time at Simon Fraser University in the 1980s. Her father, Jim, had run provincially three times for the party when it was still connected to the federal brand.
His daughter later joined with Gordon Wilson and others to give the provincial Liberals their independence in the lead-up to the 1991 election, but has spoken about her continuing affinity for the federal party often in the decades since.
Clark also served as a staffer in the Jean Chretien administration, where she worked beside LeBlanc. The pair have remained close friends in the years since.
Mike Bernier, former B.C. Liberal MLA for Peace River South, says one of the main strengths Clark brings to the table is her charisma and ability to bring people together.

I actually liked her. That's too bad.
Yeah, from those I’ve listened to who are more in the know, she was genuinely pretty good. But as @Remius correctly points out, she probably had no chance in the election. Her riding has split in two and both are polling very safe CPC.
I don’t think she could win the leadership, her riding and or the general election. It’s too bad because she is what that party needs to rebuild.

Unlike others in the political space, though, smart enough to jump in clearly with a correction.
While many of the commentariat seem intrigued with Clark, a number also say we don't know if her French is good enough to make a national go of it yet. She's apparently taking lessons, but we'll see.
This keeps up, the party's going to be like the Marie Celeste.
