Updated Army Service Dress project

Any idea if there is a plan to reduce the number of badges or sub unit identifiers on the uniform? Are they planning to retain the divisional badges, brigade identifiers, name tags, operational command badge, etc? I think less is more.

The uniform looks sharp. Could be disappointing to have it emblazed with a plethora of decoration that might take your eye off the clean look of the uniform itself. So sharp that I could imagine some 5 button special operations folks eyeing it.

One request: A crew neck khaki/olive sweater reminiscent of the older green “combat sweater”. I know – lots of kit. But in a future where I’d hope CF members aren’t wearing combats in an office environment every day, maybe bringing back the sweater would bridge the strict formalism of the complete service dress with a nod to practical climate and environment. Would look sharper than fleece.

One nitpick: Maybe colour the tie a slightly lighter shade from that of the tunic and slacks.
Operational dress is also being revamped (see Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization).

As part of that, from what I've read, the Army Dress and Ceremonial Committee has been cutting down on what badges go on operational dress. The general move is towards less.

This is a bug that may remain a feature.

The swap from No. 3s to Operational Dress in the NCR was made because LU has depleted stock of the former style of Army DEU while they retool and stock the new Canadian Army Service Dress. As the RCAF and RCN would be disadvantaged in being required to wear No. 3s while the CA pers wore Operational Dress, it became an "all for one" decision.

If this remains after the new Canadian Army Service Dress is in full role out, that remains to be seen.

So a Garrison Dress? 😉

Kidding aside, I think we overuse operational dress and underuse No. 3 Dress. There is no reason why in Garrison we wear the asses out of the most expensive clothing we wear because we cannot be arsed to wear business attire.

The fact that we turned business attire into a "once or twice a year" parade uniform due to discomfort and ahitty material is another issue entirely.
we had a work dress in the 80's turned Garrison dress...though some would strongly disagree I thought it was a great uniform...bloused combat boots-I find in this new army people start throwing up at the sight of an iron or shoe polish and they avoid the tailer and go with the excuse this is how it was issued.
