Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

It’s important to look at the context of who he was talking to, where, and when.
Or we can call it a spin. That being said, I prefer pragmatic Carney vs work up the Liberal boomer base Carney. Better for us long game

He knows he has limited ability to directly shape the thinking of Trump and his administration
Trump pissed off many when he shot his mouth off but the Liberals with Carney did not hesitate to stoke that fire big time, so they could win an election, and when he slips in the polls, piss on Trump and get the Liberal boomer base worked up. This is politics in the modern INTERNET age, not a smart move.

He’s making a case to re-liberalize Canada-U.S. trade to a synpathetic audience, and doing so in a way that his advocacy can be complementary to Trump’s stated economic goals rather than aligning against them.
The elbows up crowd (elbozos) are putting you on a wanted dead or alive poster with talk like that. My point being here, is the Liberal propaganda machine deliberately spun up their base against Trump and America.

PM Carney is clearly pushing for a more independent and assertive Canada
Good idea, piss off with carbon capture and "net zero garbage and get these pipelines in all directions built yesterday.

When he said “Canada strong will help make America great again”, I’
NO matter how you say this, I guarantee he pissed off many of his Liberal base.

The Hormuz debacle has, I think, really driven home the usefulness of geopolitically stable supply chains.
Agreed to a point, lets quite dicking around, and make Canada the oil and gas super power. Lot fewer drones and cruise missiles flying around Alberta-BC-USA, etc.

Just as Canada stands to strategically benefit from expanding our trading partnerships outside of the U.S., we absolutely still stand to benefit by repairing some of the rupture Trump created.
I have heard way too many reputable economist state we need the USA and no matter how many deals we sign or pinky swears (MoUs), we can not undo decades of dependence on the US of A. We need them more than they need us. Now that being said, they are still very energy dependent on us.

Bottom line, Yeah Carney played election politics to crap all over Trump but its going to be costly crawling to him looking for a deal. The Liberals rarely play the long game.

whats the point of a deal with a person that reneges on the already existing one?

Both sides have CUSMA violation, according to the USA, we violated it first (and that was Biden's administration that complained).
did we? Isnt there a mechanism for that?
Either way i dont think thats a direct comparable to the behaviour of the current US administration of which there are many examples

My friend which western country actually know how to ‘play the long game’?

As time goes on Carney is putting all the right pieces into place. Might be too slow for some, might be too fast for others. But the football is moving down the field, in the right direction.

I think you and I have different ideas of the right direction... But hey if this is the right way for you, hell, lets see where this goes. Its not like we have choice anyway... Miller High Life ? 🍻

Lets get to what is not how we wish it was.

Carney is quite correct to start being diplomatic to Trump. They are much stronger military, economically and frankly the world respects them more than us (respect is different than like, we may be the nice guys but the respect is held for USA, like it or not).

Maybe start adjusting your expectations of the world?

As Carney does many things I like, he erodes a notable portion of his "big tent" Liberal support.

He probably knew the real world back when he campaigned or maybe not.

Die hard Liberal supporters/defenders, it is ok to acknowledge Carney and/or the Liberals make mistakes, errors or have been dishonest.

what expectations?

Isn't that the guy who got court martialed and kicked out of the CAF as an officer cadet at CMR?
And thats relevant to to his notable role in our food growth/economy how?

Smear the messenger? Yeah that is one of many things that gives the Liberals a bad name.

hes a commentator, i dont know if that means he has a notable role or not

Since PM MC says Canada Strong = Make America Great Again? Or is PM MC "bad" because he is pro MAGA?

Can you imagine if that was Poilievre saying Make America Great Again? Tourniquets on necks everywhere from all the lost heads.

Guess we gotta call Carney Maple MAGA now.

Die hard Lib-haters should also be offering support, praise, or acknowledgement when things are going right. Perspective helps in most things.

I do just that. Thank you Uncle Mark for taking defence much more seriously, actually considering oil and gas and thinking about the economy.

I have publicly praised him a few times. I wish (its just that) he would go all the way, not hesitate and completely eradicate Trudeau Liberal ideology

i think the key word there for me is notable. Is he? I guess, as ive heard of him
He has been featured on many, many news broadcast over the news, testified at parliamentary committees, advised on farm and food production boards, he has a LONG reputation.

Whether you know of him or not, is completely irrelevant.
