The non apology DWAN wide email really landed flat.

I have no fundamental issue with people getting an opportunity to apply for a job that they found out about because of who they know, but from the ethics commissionaire report she essentially pushed him to be hired for something he was woefully unqualified for, and got let go due to performance issues (and somehow landed in the PCO).

Given the completely unexperienced PMs that are getting hired and thrown at complex projects, and doing okay, I can't imagine how bad you would have to shit the bed to get let go in the public service, so that's not great.

Especially when there are a lot of qualified people from pretty diverse backgrounds that would have ticked those same boxes, they just didn't know the DM, it's pretty frustrating. Already hard enough to hire people that it's frustrating that someone high enough was able to push that through, knowing all the hoops I have to jump through to hire people with years of experience.

I am not familiar with GoC hiring protocol, but in my company, if i know the person, I cant have any part in the hiring process for them, interviews, selection etc. I guess the GoC has no such rules?

As hard as it is to fire any PS, it is orders of magnitude harder to push out an EX-05 - indeed any EX.

She is a DM-2 or DM-3, not a mere EX...

While I agree that the CO who knows of fucksters in the battalion and seems to do nothing about them is bad, we'll have to agree to disagree on the badness of the CO who refuses to hear about any potential fucksters in the battalion so he can remain "willfully ignorant" AND not have to explain what he's doing about them while berating other battalions about their fucksters.
