That doesn't prove your point though. It proves one case became an international media symbol while the other didn't. Public awareness and public safety aren't the same thing.
We can't prevent 3 year olds from drowning in the Ageaen sea; we can mitigate the amount of Canadians victimized by people in the country illegally.
I think you and I have different ideas of the right direction... But hey if this is the right way for you, hell, lets see where this goes. Its not like we have choice anyway... Miller High Life ?
Not surprising we are in a recession. Considering our trade partner 10x our size who is 71% of our exports and 58% of our imports has decided to have a trade war with us.
On top of that we have basically been in a recession for a decade, the only thing stopping the formal declaration of that was importing so much people that it was driving up the economy in spite of everything. Now that the massive immigration has been cut back we aren’t able to pretend that isn’t the case anymore.

The understated part is how everyone wanted lower immigration but immigration was fueling a lot of economic growth.
Which is why i think a lot of people dont seem to care about being in recession. The economy isn't growing but the population isn't either so it cushions the blow.

I hope the housing market resets as well, but we shall need to see.
I remember reading about a weird scenario we might find yourselves in where we have job losses and the unemployment rate goes down, simply due to there being less jobs overall due to there being less people in Canada.
Considering we have never had a shrinking population in the history of Canada, until now, we are in uncharted territory here. We should be looking at Japan and Germany about how to handle this, and start to revise out expectations on how the economy functions.
The optics of trying to arrest and deport someone at a hospital a la ICE is going to be way worse than whatever the truth is, especially if there are kids involved.
Not saying that it shouldn't be addressed, of course it should, I'm just not surprised CBSA and the feds are not being heavy handed here.

I'd like to see these people flagged when they visit a hospital and CBSA follow up with them afterwards and deport them.
That's going to still upset people who will argue it's cruel and unusual punishment because it will cause them not to seek medical treatment. At that point I'm more concerned about the people being turned into paste on the highway or shot in the back and left for dead.
And $722,000,000 may be a rounding error to some Canadians, not me.
