Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The interim leader would not be character assassinated for however long they are in position. Then the CPC gets a new leader before the election.
Seems like a lot of work to watch poll numbers go up and down.

The only thing PP is hounding is how low the CPC can poll.
If they drop another 7% they'll take the belt from the Liberals.

Poilievre has been pressing the government on spending, deficits, economic policy and more recently transparency and parliamentary oversight.

You could argue Canadians might care a little more if they had a different messenger, which may be true but also kind of dumb of them.

I'm not sure what you mean. Who is afraid to fight?
The big plan seems to be to turtle until the next election...giving the next person little chance to grow into the job. I like my representatoves to be willing to fight for Canada.

I am just so frustrated with the inability of the CPC to get our of their own way and actually add value to the country.

No, it's a bit of work to allow the party to reinvent itself before the next election.

Ponder for a minute.

Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and the Canadian Alliance merged in 2003. They have won 1 majority government since and it took the epic collapse of the LPC and the surge of the NDP to do it.

They have been out of power since 2015, and will be out of power until 2029 at the earliest. And yet they muddle about with a leader who is about as popular as Trudeau was before he stepped down, who the electorate seems hellbent on not electing, and who scares the NDP supporters so much that they flock to the LPC of PC Mark Carney effectively locking them out of power until god only knows when.

The CPC probably needs to reinvent itself and PP is not the man to do it, because in the 23 years since forming a coalition of the right, having only one Prime minister to their name and one majority government is really an abject failure.
If they drop another 7% they'll take the belt from the Liberals.

Yes, Poilievre has been auditioning for the position of leader of the opposition quite well, and if he continues the way he has, he will keep that job for as long as he likes.

Because when one asks Canadians what they most care about right now, spending, deficits, economic policy, transparency and parliamentary oversight are the big ticket items Canadians are really hot under the collar about.

Which are exactly the issues that I personally think are the right issues for him to be hounding the government on.

And agreed about Canadians' apathy towards certain issues depending on who the messenger is...

To me, those are all issues that should concern every single one of us. They directly effect our lives right now, and also into the foreseeable future...so definitely good topics for the opposition to focus on (imo)

How so? He was a Liberal MP.

Or with Harper during this time period. But it did work out for Ford. That's why I said 'roll the dice' because its a gamble.
The 2008 and 2011 elections were called because of a threat of a non confidence vote. Not the same circumstances as the 2021 election.

Negative Nancy moment.

The Toronto Sun, which is NOT a youtube influencer or opinion outlet but it is in fact a NEWS outlet, hopefully that qualification satisfies some.

Brian Lilley offers up the views of an economist, who like me, tells you to pay attention to the house on fire and don't celebrate prematurely.

i mean the numbers keep getting lower and lower, polls are now putting the CPC in less than 60 seats. There is a common theme in all the different polls. The CPC is getting wiped out in the Urban centers, even in the west. This suggests the CPC is out of touch with urban voters and actively losing them hand over fist.

Please tell me you didn't place any bets on these numbers?

David Coletto of Abacus data, warned during the last election, to be wary of massive poll swings for/against anyone candidate or party without a specific event to back it up.

I sure as hell don't think Pierre is beating the Liberals, I find it more believable that the CPC and the LPC are 4-8% gap, with Liberals leading. Thats been what it was mostly at for the last 3 months or so.

Convenient that when Carney starts to have a bad press week and his numbers slip, suddenly obscure Nanos polls that make little fucking sense whatsoever, come up and show Pierre is basically Satan.

Where is your suspicion meter? Ohhh well, if that is the case, send me a cheque for $10,000 and when it clears, I promise to forward you a deed for some land in Africa.

And of course the media funding for the CBC, subsidies for CTV, Global, etc is not an issue? Yes, I know Toronto Sun benefits from it too.

Do I think Pierre is perfect? Hells no. I stand by statement, he is the best COA for the CPC going forward.

Pierre resigns and the CPC enters a leadership race. Perfect moment for Carney to call an election and lock in a strong majority.

Pierre resigns and the Liberals on a slim margin of good will lets them pick a new leader. Take your choice, take the BEST choice and install that person. The LPC and the media will spend 2-3 years using every asset available to trash that candidate and the conservatives.

On the idea of installing a red tory/Liberal light person? Not a good idea. As Warren Kinsella (Jean Chretien's right hand man) said "You don't pick up 5 new votes by chasing away 20 old votes"

I am seeing progress. I was visiting with my mother and some of her friends yesterday. Her friends (all in their 70s and 80s) were ALL in on Carney, thinking he was the man to fight Trump and be a responsible PM (unlike Trudeau in their view), and now, they are very disappointed. They have lost trust in him completely and even stated "Yup, he is a dirty banker".

So, thats only like .0000003% of the Canadian population that has lost faith in the Carney brand, but who else?

These old hens won't support Pierre (They are a never vote Tory ever crowd), but as Warren Kinsella has also stated "Winning elections is more about getting your own base to come out and vote". He also stated that the Liberal party (his party), has an issue when the voters don't support the leader, they typically don't show up on election day.

Next, if anyone gives a rats ass, I could share my own personal experience with Nanos polling from this last May. I contacted my friend and my MP, Alex Ruff about it.

And yes, I have some friends that are still all in on the Carney brand of Liberals. Especially my wife's friends.

Thats great, they exercise their democratic right and chose a side. I have asked all of them what has he done well and not one can say a single thing he has done. Then again, they didn't even know anything about the Gordie Howe bridge deal until the day it happened and they still have no clue what it is about. My opinion (and Dave might point his finger at me sternly) is that the Liberals for the most part are politically ignorant.

And a Rick propaganda victory. My wife and I are friends with a local biker club. The president's son is a trans man (Gay man seeking to go woman), who grew a beard for his upcoming criminal trial. He did this because he is worried he will get a "conservative" judge.

We sat down over some beer, and discussed what his views were on Conservatives. He is now not pro conservative, but I broke the myths he was believing about conservatives.
