Logistic Vehicle Modernization Project - Replacing everything from LUVW to SHLVW

What does Dominion Dynamics make?

I think Roshel is pretty well guaranteed LUV Ph 2 now, not sure why there has been no answer yet.

What does Dominion Dynamics make?

I think Roshel is pretty well guaranteed LUV Ph 2 now, not sure why there has been no answer yet.

Taken from here, all sorts of stuff:

  • AuraNet—A distributed software platform that connects sensors, autonomous systems, and operators into a shared operating picture in low- or no-connectivity environments. This is the backbone that everything plugs into—Dominion’s take on Lattice, designed very specifically for zero-connectivity environments like the Arctic.
  • Taku—An autonomous surveillance tower for persistent sensing and communications. Think Sensor Tower, but Canadian.
  • Echo—An under-ice sensing tower/hydrophone system designed to pick up sneaky things like Russian subs. It was formerly known as IceSpike.
  • Flint—A software-defined radio (SDR) for tactical comms.
  • Specter—A tethered aerostat/balloon that (there’s a theme here) provides higher-altitude sensing and communications.
  • Warden—An autonomous ground vehicle (UGV) for remote operations and sensing.
  • Scout—Dominion’s bid for Canada’s ACP (similar to CCA) program. The company is currently on contract to build the simulation/digital environment for what the system could look like for the Canadian government. Pence told Tectonic that they expect ACP to be more distributed (say, a system of drones) rather than one thing, like Anduril’s Fury,
Pence also told us that the company is looking to expand into maritime—in particular, they want to build something like CCA/ACP, but for submarines. But that’s still in the concept phase.

And probably the reason of their interest.

  • Pence said the company plans to open up a 300,000 sq ft facility for larger-scale production of all those nifty gadgets.

I got to see the Roshel Senator at the Nat War Museum a couple weeks ago and it was quite crude in comparison to other military vehicles.

For example the spare tire mount was just 3 wheel studs aprox 6' up on the side. Now not as bad as the TAPVs solution tbf but still not user friendly at all.

The interior was literally just a ford pickup truck inside. I forecast a lot of cracked screens and frustrated troops by the small amount of space inside for kit.

Aside from the protection aspect it looked almost like a downgrade from the LUVW gwagon.

That being said, if they're very cost-competitive and willing to do some iterative improvements, it would be damn nice to have a domestic solution(even if most of the powertrain is American sourced).

which model? APC? MRAP? Pickup?

It would be pretty impressive if they'd made a worse interior design than our G Wagons.

Seems to be a cost/time saving measure to keep most of the original dash. Shared across all the Senators configurations.

Here's the inside of an MRAP. The first is an older iteration, the second picture from the crew compartment is much a newer one.

For comparison, the drivers seat of the pickup.

The MRAP apparently.

Ever done an exercise in a rental while wearing FFO?
Civilian vehicles aren't designed to be operated with all that gear. The G-Wagon isn't amazing but you don't destroy the dash getting in and out.

Yes I have actually. I also worked at Brinks for a bit in very similar vehicles. They got torn up but who cares. I still prefer them to a G wagon with a stupid cage that limits is internal capacity, and a radio mount i have to stop the truck to access, which is positioned in a way to uniquely ensure it makes the back as non functional as possible. Looking at the images of the back of the Senator it's vastly superior.

Like I'm no systems engineer and definitly no artist but shouldnt controls be recessed or have guards so when I jump into this tghing with my rifle I dont break the controls?

It would cost very little top add little metal bars to protect these pieces from getting damaged.

but yeah my rifle is going to destroy everything above and to the right of the temp dial.

I want to see these guys succeed and for stuff going to Ukraine where it will only be in service for a couple years max thats fine. We'll be running these for a decade plus they should be a little "tougher".

IMO

They're converted Ford trucks. We had to pay extra to remove the radios from the GWagons. I think we'll be fine with a few broken switches.

The cage on the gwagon is the worst...but the senator doesnt even have a radio rack installed. So It's going to have something similar. They are very apples and oranges. Hiding this MRAP is going to be much more difficult then the little gwagon and require a lot more pers with Cam nets etc.

Also its not like you need to go in the back often for the radio that's what the CI is for.

As for broken switches you really want your switches when theyre for diff locks and other mission essential systems CUAS jammer for example.

Apparently theyre offering their senator pickup for LUV ph 2. Allegedly.

I think that cages/guards on controls are an easy fix.

You know its going to be similar? Because just about every other vehicle of this type does it differently, like jump in an Iveco Lince or a JLTV and fine the radios. They're accessible and in the cab.

Yes its larger but it also has more carry capacity and armour.

You do to turn your radios on and off, or to update the crypto, or to trouble shoot it. Its an idiotic design.

Are you in the habit of jumping into vehicles with your rifle across your body or something? Those switches dont look much different than the inside of a LAV, where we manage to not break them all the time.

Honeslty it looks pretty decent, I would not expect a cadillac interior for a military vehicle.
Lets be honest if they put safety cage over top of the switches and or they moved the switches, you would still complain that they were too hard to access and or would break the safety cover to gain access quicker.
If they removed the plastic dash and put an all steel dash and no am/fm blue tooth radio with out nav screeen you would complain about that also.

Looks good to me as long as the heat/AC works ish and the radio works then it would be a winner for me. No more wiring wd1 wire to tie into the comms system to plug in a walkman to have music on long vehcile patrols.

Add a RWS on top and little 12volt cooler in the back and you have a winner for killing drones and some local defence while having a cold drink or two on those hot Shilo nights.

I would really like to see the benefits/downsides of the upgraded suspensions they put in after getting feedback from Ukraine. I wpuldnt expect unarmoured LUVW offroad mobility, but if we get 75% of that, that is a win. Its important to note that the uparmoured LUVWs are practically gutless, easy to get stuck and poorly poorly armoured.

With a 156hp and 295ftlb torque engine there is not a lot of room for addons with the Gwagon.

The entire center console is a newer Roshel redesign, and specifically made to be customizable with customer input. I believe that storage space portion of it between the front seats can even be removed entirely for example (I am unfamiliar with the CAF space requirements needed for a radio rack).

Im hoping we get the RFPs soon so we can start getting some real info on this project. Its crazy its taken this long for the RFP, even after the ITQ was cancelled.
