Researching Grandfather's time in Wpg Grenadier reserves
« on: February 15, 2006, 16:43:20 »
Hello from a new member,

I would like to find information on my Grandfather's time with what I am told was an army reserve group in Winnipeg sometime in the 1930s.

Robert Connery was from Belfast, Ireland and served with the British army, 15th Service Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles, from 1915-1919.  Not sure if it's relevant here, but his British service number was 15/12644.  I have also started researching his British military service during WW1 (although it's like drinking from a fire hose).

Family history also records that his wife (my Grandmother) Ellen Connery travelled from Winnipeg to Ottawa as a representative of the Imperial Veterans in Canada to lay a wreath at a Remembrance Day service in the early 1950s.

Pretty skimpy details, but if there is someone out there with any clues as to where I start my Canadian research it would be most welcomed.
